The blacktop roads are real good. It depends how far off the path you want to go. I've been there in a lowered truck and got around pretty good.
Just to clear a little up. Camping at the tracks. It is not a camp site. It's just a piece of ground righjt beside the train tracks. Everyone will wake up at about 3:30 a.m. like it or not. It'll hold quite a few camps. I've been there with about 20 camps and still had room.
The money is given to the DFG people at the booth in the morning. If someone can get there early enough to catch someone at the booth and get some forms it would speed the check in up a lot. Depending on work, I may be able to. I won't know till that week at best. Town is pretty close. I've had nothing but good times at CR. Seen some big en's come out of there. Where in the world are the locals here.
Hunthard came by last week and said he was getting a bow Friday. Here's your chance Rudy. I'll take all of them. CR allows rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader and archery. There are certain areas for each.
Hope to see all of you there.

Raully,

Range control says the troops will be here training until April 30th so it looks like May will be available.

I'll be more certain next week & let you know :) It sure is boring without the hunters here during the weekends.

Hey Rannie, How you doin' darlin' ?
You mentioned in an earlier Post, you'd just gotten a new gun? Had the chance to take it out yet? Might be able to steal away in May for a day or two, and see what you can do with that thing! Those sisters that live down here in my neck-o-the-woods (San Diego area)...they ever hunt up there with you? You're a big help to all of us...and a "Well" of information! Just lettin' you know it's appreciated....but then, I guess that's why they make See's Candy!!! :)

Ok, so who's going to be camping? I'm going to try and get there by 4:00pm on Friday. Looks like we may have a pretty good group, looking forward to meeting some more JHO'rs. See ya on the 23rd.

For those familiar with CR - a few questions about camping. 1. Since camping at the railroad tracks isn't technically on CR property (or is it...?) can you build a small campfire in an enclosed pit/drum/grill....? 2. Is there a water source, or do we bring all the water we intend on using...? 3. Any shade.....? 4. Anyplace to skin a pig....? Any other info about camping would be appreciated. Thanks and looking forward.

Man, how bad does that suck! We can't even change plans and go to FHL. We can keep checking the recorded message to see if anything changes, but until then, lets start thinking about a FHL trip again sometime in May, i'll toss out the first date.

How does the weekend of May 7th or 21st sound? Suggestions? I need to keep it on weekends that my kids are with their mom.

The 7th sounds pretty good to me. The 21st is getting too close to HAM SLAM II, don't know what I'd do with 2 pigs so close together.

Ah Man, I was actually going to try to make this hunt, but the darn dates were changed. Hopefully I can make the May event. I still haven't had a chance to meet my fellow JHO members. Until next time Gents.

I'm interested also. Would probably bring a couple friends. May 7th would work for me also, but would also be able to do any weekend in May after that.

I hunt quite often up at FHL, especially during deer season and know my way around pretty well. Besides that the whole thing sounds like fun.

OK, it looks like it'll be May 7th. Hopefully we won't get cancelled out again!

Rannie, look for my permitt app. in the mail, i'll send it out probably on Friday.
I know we can take 1 non hunter, do they need to have a permitt as well?

Anyone have any special areas we want to try?

Who will be camping and who will be hoteling?

I'm really up for a weekend pig hunt - FHL or anywhere else for that matter. But, is it just me, or does anyone else see a problem with May 7-8....? Isn't it Mother's Day or something.....?

Wild1 is right! it looks like it's Mothers day weekend. Don't know how well that one will go over with the miss. She's going to be going with me anyway, but I don't know if she'll think running around the hills looking for pigs is her idea of a nice weekend for Mothers day.

Ok then, I can go any weekend on the 21st or 28th. I know this is getting close to the JHO Ham Slam, so I guess we can have a get together with those who are not going.

Kick those datea around and see what works.
