Sounds good to me.... does anyone know if we would be able to stay on base at the billeting center, do you have to be military or what? $18 a night as opposed to $100+ for a motel in Paso. Can't wait............

Does anyone have a number for the center to check on information? I will probably camp out. My girlfriend (La cazador) will be traveling with me. This should be a fun trip, i've been dying to get out, and actually been wanting to hunt CR for a while.

Ok, lets post up what everyone will be driving so we know what to look for. I'll be driving a silver tahoe, it has a white JHO sticker in the back window.

Also, post up if your going for sure, this way we can get an idea on how many will be going.

I don't believe there's any camping other than right outside the gate off the highway. They do have hook-ups for motorhomes on base somewhere from what I've read. I plan on attending even if I have to go by myself. Blue 03 Super Duty Crew with blue shell and 2nd generation Jesses sticker on back.

I just called the billeting, they're not taking any reservations, they're booked as of right now. She said to call back closer to the date.

We can camp just outside the gate, hopefully it won't be too crowded. I can't remember how many people that area holds. Maybe someone who has been there before knows.

So, I guess we just download the firearm registration forms for now to speed things up at the window.

Ok, here's the tentative list so far.

Date will be 4/23 - 4/24

I've got a horseback trip planned for 4/24, but I might be able to meet up on Friday night and make a hunt on Saturday. Haven't got the go-ahead from the "boss" yet, though, so we'll see.

I do like hunting that place, though!

Hey all......I'm in. I'll be driving a black Tundra and will probably be camping (in either a motohome or a tent). But correct me if I'm wrong: doesn't CR just offer a one-day hunting pass (for $15.00) or a annual pass for $55.00. And doesn't FHL offer a two day hunting pass for $25.00 (or an annual for $75.00)....? Wouldn't a two-day hunting trip be better....? Just my

This is going to be a 2 day trip, the 23rd - 24th. The cost is $15 per day or $55 for the year. As far as I know, CR has a better success rate the FHL. I'll get the $55 annual permitt, i'll be going back a few more times this year. If you decide on just the daily permitt, it will run you $30 for the weekend.

Cal Hunter,
As far as I know, you pay the fees at the registration window when you complete the check in.

Here's some links to the forms for the permitt and firearms registration. It will save time at the window.

CR has areas that are shotgun only and archery only, plus they have areas open for rifle. I'm taking my shotgun along just incase ole Tom desides to strut into view.

I'll be camping at the tracks. I'll be in a camo jeep truck with a JHO sticker in the back glass.

I know at FHL they let you bring one non-hunting guest, free of charge. Does anyone know if the same applies to CR....?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe they do. You still have to register them at the booth. CR doesn't have a voucher program. You show up at the gate and get in line. When the gate opens you do your paperwork and pay them at the booth. I camp at the tracks. It's about 400 yards from the gate. Where's Gunner been? You in Vernon?

How are the roads there ar CR. Can I bring my integra, or a truck would be more appropriate.

Hey everyone...

It's a good thing you all decided to go to Camp Roberts instead. I just found out today at range control that all of FHL's training areas are going to be used for military training during the whole month of April. The base is pretty busy right now. But like always, I'll keep you all informed :)

Happy Hunting at CR's! *~Rannie~*
