hello everyone ! New to JHO but very excited to find a place online to talk about huntin. I have got a new computer that my wife bought and i am not very computer savvy. I can type about 6 words a minute but download porn quite easily. Any who i finally logged on to JHO and noticed your pig hunt at C.R. and was very interested. Is there any room left? and if so how much will it cost? Im nuts about huntin but am not very succeful except 2 guided pig hunts in king city that were great! Nice to meet everyone and hope for a reply soon.

Welcome to JHO. The cost is 15 a day or 55 a year. Great place to hunt. Check the JHO events forum and it'll give you a lot of info.

It looks like a ton of JHO'ers will be there. As for the railroad tracks we have seen 100 hunters camp there. It is railroad property and has never been a problem for them or us to camp there.

I have another question on the hunting: If you camp at the tracks (and there is a bunch of people) how long does it take to get checked in at 6, drive to your hunting spot or walk in somewhere? Could your morning hunt be shot? Is it way too crowded? thanks!

Hey Lowell,
What time do you recommend we get in line? I think we will go ahead and camp at the tracks, it'll be fun to shoot the breeze with everyone.

Good luck!

I second prohunter's question about how long it takes to get from the railroad camp thru the gate and to the hunt areas. Also, could somebody explain the check-in proceedures? Is it open all night? Some of us who have to work that day won't get there till the wee hours of the morning. If the check-in stops and then starts again in the morning, what are the hours? I would prefer to be able to check in Friday so we can just head out in the morning so if I know their schedule, maybe I can adjust mine.

Check in time matter on how many people show up to hunt and how many check in windows are open. Once it took me about 40 minutes to check in and another time it only took 5 minutes. You won't know until you get there. To help you with the check in process have the forms available on JHO filled out, it will save you some time. Usually, the first day takes the longest. As for the camp ground next to the tracks, I wouldn't even call it a camp ground.

Anyone stayed at the campground on base before? I just made reservations for me and my son. Would I have to go to the gate in the morning if I am in all ready?

Yes. You'll have to go out the main gate and back in the other gate. I stayed on base earlier this year.

Cda55.

How did you like their campground? Was it worth staying on base? What do I do with the weapons?

hmmm...now I am having second thoughts about this hunt. If you camp at the tracks (not a camp ground) and it takes awhile to get thru the gates and to your spot...hmmm...I will have to talk to the guys in my little group. Don't get me wrong it would be alot of fun to meet everyone! Just don't know about this hunt.

I really liked the campground. The weapons are checked in at the PMO right inside the main gate.(not the one you use to hunt) They stay in their vault when you're on base. You have to check them in when you return and check them out when going out in the field.

Prohunter, It doesn't matter if you camp on base or at the tracks. You still have to go through the same gate to get checked in. I'm normally at the gate by 3a.m. It depends how many are there and how fast the ones in front of you fill out their forms. The guys do a good job at trying to push everyone through as fast as possible.

Prohunter,

I will be staying on base in my coleman tent trailer. We need to make a point to meet each other that weekend so we won't be strangers for the January hunt.

When I was at CR in Oct I saw alot of fresh hog signs. With the cooler temps in Dec I am expecting a good hunt. In three trips to CR this summer I have seen 5 hogs and shot at one of them with my bow (but missed).

I know about where CR is from the website but having not been there no really sure the driving time approx. About how long of a drive is it from the San Fernando Valley? I'm thinking I'll just leave straight from work on the Friday (off at 6:00 p.m.) before the hunt. Also if I bring two rifles (one back up) does one of them have to stay in the vault while I'm on the grounds or can they both be in the truck with me?
