Can't call it second annual yet, but if we do it next year, it will be.

So here is the deal.

Weekend hunt up at Choppers. You can read about out last hunt in the JHO Hunting articles section.

Dates not chosen yet.

$400 per hunter. This includes weekend hunt, Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, accomadations in the lodge, two pigs. This is semi guided, there is a cooler available to hang hogs. ARCHERY ONLY (NO CROSSBOWS OR FIREARMS).

Check out Choppers ranch here.

Last time we had 9 hunters, but I will leave it up to the guys on how many hunters. I don't think we want to go beyond that number. So far I have the following interested.

Pigig
Arrowslinger
BDB
Orso
Myslef (Bubba)
Speckmisser

Waiting to hear from Spectre17 (Jesse)
Bighorn67
Copperjohn

I need dates...

This hunt will open up if the above mentioned drop out and we have spots.

If we fill up, all you need is to find an additional two people and startup up another group, or just speak up and I will add you to the waiting list.

I'm definitely in...

If the hunt took place this year, the best dates for me would be the first three weekends in November or the first three weekends in December. If the trip took place in 2005 then I am free for just about any weekend thru May except a couple of weekends in January.

I would prefer we did the hunt in early 2005 but like I said "I'm in" which ever way we decide.

I'm in and early in '05 would be best for me but I could make December, November is out but I am guessing too late to organize right now anyway.

Something to chew on. Traditionally, Jan and Feb have been slow. From March on , it gets better as time goes by...There is going to be a hunt this weekend, Chopper will let us know how it goes and give us some of his thoughts. If you want to wait until after the Holidays, I'm thinking we should plan this from March on, June is booked. Acorn crop is phenomonal right now, compared to what we seen early this year.

Hey bubba, I think Backcountry is out, sorry for the confusion. From earlier chats with him, I thought he would be in but for now you can remove him from the waiting list unless he changes his mind and posts up.

The later part of November or December are best for me this year.

January is also good except for the 22-24 which is SHOT Show time, but might want to check with Chopper about the hunting at that time of year.

I need to get out back and practice!

Phillip,

My previous post was based on Choppers info. He doesn't think Jan or Feb would be good.

BDB, OK thanks.

If you end up with more people than the ranch can support, we'll start another group for another date.

Hi Guys,

Dang, I wish I saw this thread earlier. I missed out on the previous hunt at Choppers. I'm interested in getting on the waiting list and can probably hunt just about anytime but would prefer either Jan or Feb.

Pigig, do you teach the IBEP program?

Cheers,
Foo'

'Foo, thanks for the reminder... we're going to try to host an IBEP class for PIGIG to instruct at our club (Kings Mountain Archers in Woodside) sometime in the next 1-3 months. I'll bring it up at our next club meeting on Nov. 4th and try to get a date set. PIGIG, let's chat about this so I know what you need and how many you can instruct.

If there are enough guys interested, we can do 2 hunts. Last time we had 9 guys on the ranch and sleeping quarters are pretty tight at the cabin for 9 and even with 6.25 square miles of area, it's sometimes hard to put everybody in a prime spot.

Sorry to Hijack but...

BC, I completed the IBEP couse about 8 years ago and misplaced my card. I'm trying to get a new copy and am having an extrememly difficult time getting a response from anyone in the organization. I'm getting nervous as I leave on Oct 30th for a NY Whitetail hunt and NY requires the ID. Pigig, can you assist? I've been trying to get in touch with Curtis...

Anyway, keep me posted of class dates as I promised Pablo, a lurker and new bowhunter, that I'd take this course with him for support and refresher.

About this hunt...If we get enough people I'd join the second group.

I'm also sorry for the thread hijack (but 'Foo started it).

I'm in the same boat as 'Foo, in that I took the class about 14 years ago, and lost the card about 10 years ago. Eventually I may need it for an out-of-state hunt so I'll be taking the class again to get re-certified too. I hope PIGIG can keep us all in line.

I could use the refresher too.
