I think Pigig's gonna get one in the creek bottom, but i've got my top secret spot at Chopper's for pick stickin'....plus, i just picked up another two dozen arrows, so bubba...you better bring your hardhat, 'cause the arrows will be flyin'.

I propose a friendly wager. Everyone throw in $10 and the guy with the biggest (heaviest) pig takes the whole pot. Either do it for each hunt for as a combo of both hunts (16 hunters). Oh but this would not be legal would it, guess we would have to do a best "picture" contest to be legal

March definately has the advantage being the first group out.
But!
Factor in the allowance for age before beauty!
And!
Is a pigs ass pork!
and!
do bears reallySh** in the woods~!!
Plus !
I'll probably bring two or three hogs down with me in case I need a bucket shot.
I refuse to go home empty handed.
I can always stop by the butchers on the way back if I need to.
Hey whats that yorkshire doing in those photo's?
Is that an apple in it's mouth?

There you have it
The winning formula

April is sure to win cuz they will know what they have to beat before it starts!

Math always hurts my head
Think I'll go out back and shoot a round or two.

If "the shot" did not work out as a planned- I have a U.S.N M2 Kabar we can share.

For deer i wouldn't have a problem using mechanicals, but for pigs i will always use a fixed blade (thunderhead 100's). Of the three bow killed pigs that i've seen, you want the blades open, 'cause the odds of a pass through are pretty low w/ the gristle plate & large bones.
<
If you're using a mechanical and hit 'em bad, the blades might close & create little or no additional damage...not so on a fixed blade.

I am a big fan of the NAP Spitfires and I shoot them quite a bit. That said, I still don't use them on hogs. I hit a small hog, 100lb sow, behind the left shoulder and it stuck in her right shoulder and never exited, less than 1 foot of penetration. This was with a 650 grain arrow, 67 pounds of kinetic and a fixed cut on contact head !!!! I was expecting a complete pass through but it wasn't to be. I just don't want to take the chance. If all I had was the mechanicals I'd shoot them but I'd be real careful for a quartering away shot (not too steep of a quarter with mechanicals). Lots of people use them and kill hogs all the time (Chopper included) but I choose not to on hogs.

The BH broke the front left leg bone and continued through the entire length of the body to lodge in the back right leg just under the skin. The BH is still 100%, all I have to do is sharpen it and use it again, but I have retired it to a place of honor. Try that with with the spitfire

WEEKEND HOG ACTIVITY REPORT

1 hunter saw 30 pigs in one group on Saturday morning and his hunting partner saw 5 hogs in a different area of the ranch. Sunday they hunted half the day and spotted 9 hogs total. I know exactly where they were hunting. But of course, I'll keep this info to myself for the time being.

One guy passed on a small hog. The other guy got no shot, but one of them got close enough to a big boar that they nearly shook hands, he pooped his pants, literally
