Congrats to Norcalblacktail, since hunting season is right around the corner (or already started for some), we are going with the topic of Wildlife. Any photos of living wildlife (no kill shots) are legal. Feel free to give some details about your photo and how you photographed it.

This contest will run until Monday, July 31st, 2006. At the end of this period we will vote and the winner will be awarded prizes from Jesse.
Please reference the JHO Photo Contest Rules and Procedures (pinned in the photo forum).
Submit all photos into this thread, if you have any questions, you can email me or post a question in a thread.

Let's get this party started :)

IMG_7801.jpg

This wild hog was about 15 yards away when I snapped this photo. He wasn't quite sure what I was, but after a few snaps of the shutter he wondered off into the brush. One of the few times I was glad to have my camera instead of my bow with a hog that close :)

I was taking pictures "safari style" but I was doing the driving also, making it rather difficult. I ended up slamming the brakes, grabbing my camera and snapping this one picture before he turned and chased the doe seen walking away on his left. I've hunted this dude on many occasions and he never came within bow range. Maybe he will have another few inches next time we meet. :)

Snapped this one as he was making his way into the thickets. People seem to either like this one or think its framed too close.

Probably not a contender here, but my best shot through the spotting scope so far.

Not the greatest pic in the world, just thought the bird with the toad in its beak was interesting.

Don't really have any that compare to some of the fantastic shots already posted but thought you all might enjoy these.

Wish I had noticed the piece of grass between me and the fawn before I took the picture, though the way it was back in the brush I'm not sure what I could have done about it.

These two coons were part of a group of 5 young ones that were headed up the tree but were the only ones that stopped to get their picture taken.

great display of photos so far. Keep em coming.
also, try to keep the photo width less than 640 pixels so we dont have to scroll around on smaller monitors.
