Give me a pic of a rompin' stompin' red boar...If there's any chance of hanging one on the wall here at the Rancho - it's gonna be a red one. I got a look at one two years ago before it disappeared into thin air, and I think of that sucker all the time.[/b]

Rancho, I've only seen one good red hog so far this year. He had black and white spots on his chest and face. I had a 150 yard shot and it woulda been too short of a drag to the truck so I passed. All the other reds have been under 100 lbs.

I took my .41 mag for a walk through one of Speck's honeyholes this morning. The final count was 13 elk, 25+ hogs, a ton of deer, 2 yotes, and a sweet matched set of elk sheds.

Well, just got another pile of apps today.

I believe I'm sitting on about 17 or 18 paid apps (thought we were a few more already, but math never was my strong point)...which means there are still a bunch out there in space.

Absolute deadline for turning in your apps is May 14.

As I said in the other thread... I have sent out all of the application packets that I know of. If you requested one and haven't received it yet, then you need to shoot me an email REAL QUICK. Make sure the subject line is MAY TEJON HUNT. There's also still time for anyone else who wants to get in to get an app packet and turn it around to me.

Scott, which honey hole had all those elk in it?

Speck,

Just want to make sure you got mine.

I dont want to let Hronk think he doesnt have to haul mine and Jr's pigs up some hills and not get his morning walk in.

Gotcha, Dan! You're in.

Hronk better bring his truss (girdle), 'cause it sounds like there's gonna be a LOT of hog hauling on this hunt!
<

By the way, as usual I don't make it a practice to announce the names/handles of whoever has paid up.

If you sent an app and a check, you can announce yourself. If I see someone saying they've paid and I haven't received a check from them within a day or two, I'll probably raise a flag.

And, of course, if you want to make sure I got your app, feel free to ask.

Bill,

No problem, glad you'll be making it again.

Don't worry about the mailing costs... it's not like it's a fortune or anything. My pleasure.

Looks like this hunt is shaping up. With the likes of Dirtpoor and gnn961, we have a serious wealth of wisdom right there in camp with us. I think I had one eye swollen shut the last time I saw gnn961.

Looking forward to seeing you guys. Also, I'm looking forward to meeting Hronk for the first time. He's become somewhat of a legend in my mind.

I have a few other buddies joining us. And, I am still hoping that UpperEA is going to join us from the frozen north. I'm waiting to see his name up in lights here soon. What up eh?

Hey Speckmisser,

Sent the apps to you a day or two ago.
Let me know if you have received them.

Thanks.

This post should go in a different forum but......... My wife is from Mexico - not a CA resident. Can she get an out of state license or does she need a hunter safty course first. If she can get a non res license we can go together on this hunt even though she won't be hunting anyway. If she can't go I can't either (read whipped).

Alright...I've now got a secret, secret spot all picked out. Where the trophy pigs line up on the side of the road like day-workers in front of a Home Cheepo, and load themselves right into the back of the truck.

JB, gotcha. You're good to go.

Kochino, dunno if anyone else has any ideas, but the best answer for that one would be to call DFG. Time is running into the short rows, though, so if you want to come (and you'd definitely be welcome!), get on the phone with them quickly.

Rancho, that's my spot. It's only for newbies, so you need to get another super-secret spot.

Still lots of space, Rancho. We're at about 21 paid in hand right now.

Folks, apps need to be in two weeks from now so I can get them sent to Barbara. If you want to go on this hunt, time is drawing to a close!

My first Pig hunt as well. I know I have the right gun, scope, and the ability to shoot straight. But I cant stop thinking about is, whatdo I do if I actually bring one down.

I have hunted waterfowl & upland for ever, so this should be very interesting.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.
