Congrats XD
<

I was at your honey hole and found lots of fresh rootings. Too bad I was all packed up and ready to head home so I just decided to take a quick drive through the area at 12 noon just to see if I have your luck, but no joy. I had a few opportunities on Thursday but just couldn't put the puzzle together. Oh well maybe next time. And I promise I will join you guys next time providing that you bring another roasted pig.......

Congrats Eric and Ed! That's a nice looking hog you got there. I wonder if one of the pigs you saw was one we saw during the Elk hunt on that road. We had one 50 yards off the road eyeballing us before he ran into the brush.[/b]

Cali,
If you are talking about the back door road, it might be the same pig.
The one Ed shot is much bigger.Got mine in the general area you are talking about, rooting under an oak tree for acorn or grabs.

It could be the same one. There was more than one pig working that area however. But once they find a spot they like they'll definately come back. Some of that pig going to make it up to deer camp next year? I swear I come back heavier than when I went up there, despite all the hiking we do! Too much good food!

I just drop the camper at camper world because of refridgerator issues so I may have to tent it. Green taco w/wench. I forgot the wench won't be coming with me but my taco has a winch.

Jesse,
What were the guest house costing for a nite stay?

Pat, we didn't forget about you. We came by Thursday night around 8:30 but the lights were all off. We came back the next day and no vehicle was around. I think we had the right campsite. Jayco with a couple other trailers around it in back?

Billeting is $42 now for a room and $45 for a suite which is a living room and bedroom. The good ole days of $20 a night is long gone. If you get a room there make sure you're out by 11am, they turn them plastic cards off right at 11am. That or don't shut the door until you're ready to leave. I got locked out Sunday but they had a security guy there in 5 mins to let me in to get my stuff.

Hacienda is $75 for the nicer bigger rooms but you can pile in a couple buddies on the floor to help pay for it. Flat screens there even. XD and REM3006 were living large over there last weekend. I think they have cheaper rooms on the north side, not sure what they run. They are the ones that have the common bathroom down the hall. The $75 rooms have their own bathrooms at the Hacienda.

Man, I'm jonesing to go back again this weekend. Someone twist my arm. Quail, hogs, ducks, bobcats, coyotes. It was fun.

One change I did see on gun regs for FHL is rimfires are NOW LEGAL for rabbits and tree squirrels. Still no squeak shooting allowed.

Pat,

Be ware of the Camper World repairs. I had my camper furnace repaired at the store in Cordelia near Vacaville, and it doesn't work half of the time. Cost me $650 by the time they got finished with me. We started with a $200 estimate, that was if I removed the furnace and brought it into the shop. Which I did. Could have bought a new furnace, and installed it myself for that price. I have the Four Wheel pop up camper, so during the winter months I need a thermostat controlled heater, or I might as well sleep outside in a tent.

Jesse-
I may be going this weekend as well. All depending on the areas they open.
Waiting till Thursday to get the website update or the phone message.
Still can't sleep after that night with the boar next to me at 20 yards.

I use those barnes expander tipped on my scoped 870 12 ga I get 2 " groups @ 100yds. Just till last nite I took my scope off so I can drag it in the bush like old times. I have a rifled barell I bought from cabelas 9 years ago. Its my 44mag for now. I shot few hogs in TA29 crusing the tunnels. Its short enough for me to swing around but not as good as a pistol.
S&W makes a model 29 in 44mag about $500 I may consider when I get back from Hawaii.

Stef,
you might as well have brought your sleeping bag, Morriss told me alot of stories of him sleeping out there all night with the piggys long long time ago.

Finally got some video done from the New Years eve hunt.

That's Eric (XDHunter) and REM3006 skinning the second hog, their bald headed boar. Westy at the end wading in on the bobcat we got.

You hear the bugle sound retreat in the beginning. Of all the time I've spent hunting FHL and training there in the military I''ve never heard retreat before. We were miles from the cantonment area and the wind was blowing the other way with a huge ridge between us and I could hear that bugle perfectly.
