OK, so it's time for the first batch of applications.

The JHO/Tejon Archery Hunt is set for February 22-24. We'll be staying at the Vaquero Cabin again (like always). The hunt includes an onsite Tejon Representative who can offer direction as well as handle meals and all for us.

As usual, this is for one hog, and is for archery hunters only. There are 12 spaces, and I need a minimum of 8 hunters to make it happen (if we have less than eight, either the price goes up or the hunt is cancelled).

If you want to learn more about the hunt, read any of the other threads posted by me in the Pinned Topics area at the top of the hog forum, or do a search. There's plenty out there. Specific questions can be asked on the forum or via email.

Now, please read the following carefully. Failure to follow instructions may very well result in being excluded from the hunt. It's not difficult, and I don't really have time or patience to chase folks down if they can't follow simple directions.

First, to request an application packet, send me an email using the email link in my profile (just click my screen name to view the profile). In the email, I need you to do the following:
  • Subject Line MUST contain - Tejon Archery Hunt It must be specific, because there will be three JHO hunts this year and I'll need to know which one you want to join. I have an email filter set to catch these, and if you don't put the proper subject line, your message may very well go into the bulk mail bin...never to be seen again.
  • Number, real name (first and last), and JHO handle of all members if you want to hunt as a party
  • Your email address
  • Phone number where I can reach you during the day
  • Mailing address
This hunt is not limited to JHO members, but preference WILL be given to JHO members if it looks like the hunt will get full. Unlike the rifle hunts, there are very limited spaces on this hunt and it IS for JHO after all. Please keep this in mind if you want to bring friends or relatives.

There will be NO space saving. You will be confirmed when you have sent in your PROPERLY completed application packet, tag, and checks for the hunt and insurance.

Hunt cost is $450. Insurance is $13 and is required. The application packet contains details about whom to make the checks out to. DO NOT MAKE CHECKS OUT TO ME.

The packet also includes detailed information about what you need to include in the application (e.g. current pig tag, proof of insurance, etc.). Make sure you get this stuff in there BEFORE you send it. This year Barbara will NOT be processing incomplete applications and there won't be much opportunity for you to correct any oversights after sending the apps to me.

Applications MUST BE RECEIVED TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE HUNT DATE. That means they'll need to be in my hands by February 8. And that means that if you want to get an app and return it, you need to allow another full week... so all requests should be in by February 1. If you miss the deadline, you miss the hunt.

I will hold all applications until February 8, then send them to Barbara as a group. Your checks will not go to the bank until she has processed the paperwork. Don't spend the money before then. Bounce the check, you're bounced from the hunt.

Finally, please don't waste my time and postage. If you aren't sure you can make it, don't request an application packet. Every year I send out about three times as many application packets as I get back. I can understand if you think you can go, but then can't... but if you're on the fence, wait until you're pretty sure before asking me to send a packet.

Remember, this is NOT my job. I don't get paid for it, either by JHO or by Tejon. I do it because I enjoy hunting with you guys, and I have a good relationship with the folks at Tejon (thanks to all the previous JHO hunters who've given us such a great reputation there) so they'll work with me. What I'm saying is, don't sweat me if it takes me a couple of weeks to get an application packet back to you after you request it, or if I don't respond right away to your questions.
