Heres a little Teaser, still cleaning up and what not, lost 6lbs over the weekend with all the recoveries. Probably the best Tejon trip so far. Post up the story later. Bang flop at 15yds to the head. E-tips work well.

Not for the faint of heart. All my past hunts seem easy now....

Okie dokie boys, everybody should be home and well rested by now... post 'em up!

Here's LtDann's buddy, Chuck, with a nice boar from Saturday night. This one almost made it to the road, but Chuck shot it before it could get there. :lol bashing sign:

chucksboar01.jpg

And on Friday night, this big girl gave me a shot that was too good to pass up. And yes... we were hell hole bound!

Stories to come, but lots of work to do today first.

Well no meat in the freeser for me and my buddy (Jr). We set up camp next to Mark, Kenny, Carl and I forgot the other two names. Packed our stuff into the Rino and headed out.

Set up to glass and watched some 40-60 lbrs for a couple hours as they fed and slept. No big pigs to shoot the first night. Saturday we head out to our favorite spot where we have always seen pigs. It hasn't mattered in the pst what time of the day we went to this spot, we would see pigs. We get set up and glass from first light until 1000. No pigs seen and we cannot believe it. We start driving the area and find the roads have all been graded and you can drive down through the canyon and all over the place. This area you used to have to walk into. Maybe this area is getting hunted more now that people can drive it.

We hike a couple bedding areas with no luck. We go back to camp BS a while with the guys and head out around 430 pm. Park the Rino and walk to the edge of the road to discuss where we are going to glass from and Jr says pigs. Theere are 11 40-60 lbrs 15 yards from us right next to the road. We watch them for 30 minutes hoping some shooters come out. Nope.

We hike to the glassing areas and wait. We spot a group and I take a sprint-jog and close the distance at last light. I lay the pack down, range the pigs at 319yds, take a couple breathes and let one go just as the last pig is near the top of the ridge. No hit. Just under the belly. Jr and I are talking on the radio and I hear grunting just in front of me. Two red ones and a black one come out at 40 yards. same size as the others. Thought about shooting one for the BBQ, but let them go to grow bigger. MISTAKE.

Sunday moring comes and we are glassing the same area. Jr is watching a group close the distaance to him and notice a few guys above him setting up on the pigs and giving chase. Jr watches as the guys take a nice Calico and a 60 lbr. Good job guys. By the way that jeep is too nice to be driving the dirt roads and in the bushes.

We walk the area a little more, call it quits at 1100 and head back to camp to pack the gear. We learned from Mark and his guys that microwavable Cosco Carnitas is good and microwaving might be the better choice for this May hunt due to the longhours in the field and short sleep at night. Plus it taste damn good.

Overall had a great time and I will see you guys again in February or May.

Phill, thanks for the tips on areas and for setting this thing up. Had a great time once again.

Ok, my story is pretty quick, Headed out around noon on Friday just to drive around a bit and set up for the evening hunt. Around 5pm I finally spotted some hogs moving up a canyon Across from me, Across from me I mean a good 1k to 1500yds. I looked at my watch and figured I had plenty of time since going down is always fast. My plan was to get to a small saddle that paralleled the hill side which the pigs were wandering around and give me a 200yd shot at most. Halfway down the hill I was on I came up on some this brush and thought to myself that looks like a nice bedding area. I pear around this bush and there is a nice sow bedded down about 8yds from me. I try and take 2 more steps to my left to get a good vital shot but she must have heard the last step and got up ran straight about 10yds then circled back about 15yds from me. I kneeled down and waited for her to clear some brush and give me clear shot. Wind was blowing hard in my face so she had no idea what spooked her, finally after about 30 seconds which felt like a few minutes she cleared the brush and I put the 308 round under the hear. Through the scope I see her feet up in the air and started rolling down the hill, luckily she only rolled about 10yds and wedged up against some brush. After the shot another sow busted down the hill that was bedded below her but left 2 little piglets still in the bed. I did the best I could to stay clear of them and get to my pig and start the fun work. I walked back up the hill to my dad and grabbed him and our frame pack. 4 hours later we finally got it up to the truck and back to camp around 10pm. probably the toughest hunt so far at tejon, pigs just weren't moving. Thanks again to Eric, Ed and Sal for all the good food Saturday night and good company throughout the weekend.

Jesse thanks for the T-shirts.

Well here is my short story. Headed out after setting up camp fri about 2:00 pm. Checked out a couple spots and then headed to a canyon with a cattle trough that gets a lot of visits from pigs. headed up the canyon only got about 150 yards up the canyon and spooked a deer. While I was watching the deer head out I spot a pig through the trees. The pig is angling towards me, so I just wait. As the pig gets closer I realize that it is gonna hit my sent . I can't get a clear shot so I am expecting the pig to bolt any second. I see when she hits my sent but she doesn't bolt she just slowly turns around and starts to sneak back the way she came. I am able to get a clear shot and take it. Made a bad shot followd up by a pretty good shot to finish her off. 150lbs on the skinning rack. Thanks to a new memory card on my camera that did not work I was only able to get a phone pic. Anyway a great hunt over way too soon. Great group of people. Can't wait until next year.
