JHO Tejon Hunt 2009.
If you do not include this subject line, your email may be deleted by my SPAM filter and I will never even know you were there.
In your application request you MUST include the following information:
If you send me a note without ALL OF THIS information, there is a good possibility that I will not respond in time for you to join the hunt. I usually get in excess of 100 reponses to these hunts, and I do not have time to chase down anyone who couldn\'t follow instructions.
When I receive your email, I will usually not acknowledge it. I will process application packets in batches, every couple of weeks (depending on volume), and I will notify the forum when I have sent out a batch. If you have not received your packet within a few days of that notification, THEN you can drop me a line to ask about your status.
I will NOT accept any requests for application packets after April 30. Don\'t wait until the last minute.
Step 2 - Properly Complete the Application Packet
The applications this year are slightly simplified, but you are still required to provide the same documents and information. Read the application form carefully.
Every form includes a checklist to ensure you have everything. USE IT! When I receive your packets, I check the names and put them in a folder. I don\'t double-check to see if you\'ve included everything or not.
The application form tells you how to make out your checks. DO NOT MAKE CHECKS OUT TO ME!
IMPORTANT: If you pay with a Cashier\'s Check, make sure that the check does not expire before the hunt date. Cashier\'s checks are usually only good for a limited amount of time.
If you requested applications for a group, I will send you ONE application packet. It is your responsibility to make a full copy for each member of your group, and to return all of your group\'s paperwork, checks, etc. to me in a SINGLE PACKAGE.
Proof of insurance is required for every vehicle you will bring to the ranch. If you are going to be riding with someone else, please indicate this on your application form.
Step 3 - Mail the Completed Application back to ME
Use the checklist to make sure you\'ve got everything BEFORE you send your packet to me.
Send your completed packet to me, NOT to Tejon Ranch. If you send your packet to the ranch, it is very possible that it will get mixed in with the regular PORs. Don\'t do that.
<span style="color:#FF0000">The Deadline for Applications is May 02. Applications received after the deadline will be returned. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Step 4 - Prepare for the Hunt!
Somewhere, a while back, I wrote a post about how to prepare for the Tejon hunts. That advice is still valid today, but I don't have the gumption to look it up.
In general, there is really a LOT of information already on this forum, both about the JHO/Tejon hunts specifically and about hunting the Tejon Ranch in general. The Search Function is your friend. If you don't know much about Tejon Ranch, I'd recommend spending some time with the search feature. After that, if you still have questions (and you probably will), fire away!
Once you've sent in your completed application packet, there's nothing left to do but get ready for the hunt. When I receive your packet, I will not notify you. If you want to follow up and make sure I got it, you can post up here on the forum or send me an email.
Your check will not clear until right before the hunt date, so if you send me a check in February, it will sit in my safe until it's delivered to Tejon in May. No need to keep checking your bank account, except to make sure you have enough money to cover the check.
As usual, we'll probably meet up at the Flying J the morning before the hunt for the annual pre-hunt breakfast. It's great to catch up with everyone there, and if you're new it'll be a good chance to meet some other JHOers before we hit the ranch and everyone scatters.
Well, that's about all I can think of.
One more time, with feeling... READ ALL OF THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE APPLYING!
