JHO Tejon Hunt 2009.

If you do not include this subject line, your email may be deleted by my SPAM filter and I will never even know you were there.

In your application request you MUST include the following information:
  • Real name
  • email address
  • mail address
  • telephone contact information
  • number of people in your party and their names

If you send me a note without ALL OF THIS information, there is a good possibility that I will not respond in time for you to join the hunt. I usually get in excess of 100 reponses to these hunts, and I do not have time to chase down anyone who couldn\'t follow instructions.

When I receive your email, I will usually not acknowledge it. I will process application packets in batches, every couple of weeks (depending on volume), and I will notify the forum when I have sent out a batch. If you have not received your packet within a few days of that notification, THEN you can drop me a line to ask about your status.

I will NOT accept any requests for application packets after April 30. Don\'t wait until the last minute.

Step 2 - Properly Complete the Application Packet

The applications this year are slightly simplified, but you are still required to provide the same documents and information. Read the application form carefully.

Every form includes a checklist to ensure you have everything. USE IT! When I receive your packets, I check the names and put them in a folder. I don\'t double-check to see if you\'ve included everything or not.

The application form tells you how to make out your checks. DO NOT MAKE CHECKS OUT TO ME!

IMPORTANT: If you pay with a Cashier\'s Check, make sure that the check does not expire before the hunt date. Cashier\'s checks are usually only good for a limited amount of time.

If you requested applications for a group, I will send you ONE application packet. It is your responsibility to make a full copy for each member of your group, and to return all of your group\'s paperwork, checks, etc. to me in a SINGLE PACKAGE.

Proof of insurance is required for every vehicle you will bring to the ranch. If you are going to be riding with someone else, please indicate this on your application form.

Step 3 - Mail the Completed Application back to ME

Use the checklist to make sure you\'ve got everything BEFORE you send your packet to me.

Send your completed packet to me, NOT to Tejon Ranch. If you send your packet to the ranch, it is very possible that it will get mixed in with the regular PORs. Don\'t do that.

<span style="color:#FF0000">The Deadline for Applications is May 02.
Applications received after the deadline will be returned. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Step 4 - Prepare for the Hunt!

Somewhere, a while back, I wrote a post about how to prepare for the Tejon hunts. That advice is still valid today, but I don't have the gumption to look it up.

In general, there is really a LOT of information already on this forum, both about the JHO/Tejon hunts specifically and about hunting the Tejon Ranch in general. The Search Function is your friend. If you don't know much about Tejon Ranch, I'd recommend spending some time with the search feature. After that, if you still have questions (and you probably will), fire away!

Once you've sent in your completed application packet, there's nothing left to do but get ready for the hunt. When I receive your packet, I will not notify you. If you want to follow up and make sure I got it, you can post up here on the forum or send me an email.

Your check will not clear until right before the hunt date, so if you send me a check in February, it will sit in my safe until it's delivered to Tejon in May. No need to keep checking your bank account, except to make sure you have enough money to cover the check.

As usual, we'll probably meet up at the Flying J the morning before the hunt for the annual pre-hunt breakfast. It's great to catch up with everyone there, and if you're new it'll be a good chance to meet some other JHOers before we hit the ranch and everyone scatters.

Well, that's about all I can think of.

One more time, with feeling... READ ALL OF THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE APPLYING!

Buy your plane tickets, now, Rancho! Take advantage of the "fare wars"... or someone else might have to go whack a big piggie in your "secret spot".

Besides, it'll seem wierd not to have you there.

Sign-ups are coming along pretty slow so far. Spring is just over the horizon, as February is gonna blow through here pretty quick!

By the way, drove by Tejon this evening. Saw two groups of pigs right out in the oaks off of I-5! They're taunting us!

It's a hard hunt to beat!

For those who've sent app requests already, I'll be sending out a bundle sometime this coming week. Should be in your mailboxes by next week.

Sure wish I could make this trip but it's just not gonna happen this year. That said, I found a good recipe for ya to make this year Speck.! You may want to substitute something a little more upscale instead of the Jose Cuervo though! I think I made a batch of these last trip to Tejon, minus all the additional ingredients that is :bag-on-head:

Come on, Steve! You can do it!

I've got a similar recipe with Kentucky Bourbon, but I like the tequila version better. I'll have to give this one a try!

Apologies to all who've been waiting so patiently. I've been kinda holding off, hoping to see a few more requests. It's building slow this year...

Anyway, apps in envelopes as of right now... they'll go out in tomorrow's mail.

The cost is $450 as long as we can get at least 25 hunters.

That's generally not a problem for this hunt, however, everyone should be aware that the price will increase by $100 if we don't make that minimum. If that unlikely event should occur, everyone who has signed up will have the option of paying the extra or receiving a refund.

There are currently about 35 application requests in the mail right now, with more in progress.

I'll be there with my homebrew IPA and Hef for the beer lovers....hopefully I'll be able to help a few newbies just depends on how many I bring up....I was up last weekend and the roads on the southside were in great shape and the pigs were everywhere they normally hang out. A lot of the sows were wet so that made it tough to take one with the bow, plus Murphy came along for the ride on one big red pig Saturday night.:lol bashing sign:

Dang, the homebrew is about worth the price of admission all by itself!

Apps are trickling in, but May isn't that far off. Come on fellas, let's get it on at Tejon!

Went looking for a pig tag last week, but neither Big 5 near my house had any. Does anyone know of a place that has them near San Ramon?
