This is interesting, as I was just talking to an Aussie friend who has an inside with some people who own land near Tuscany, and they have boar all over their property and love to hunt them. I was thinking of lining up a hunt/ sight seeing tour, but then I realized I can drive for about 3 hours and hunt pigs for a lot cheaper. As for the sight seeing of cool architecture, there is always Hearst Castle.... Now I am beginning to understand why people call me boring. (pun slightly intended) I think i'm just frugal.

MAC,

I agree.  It would be an incredible trip to hunt boar in Italy.  But then again there's guys in Italy thinking how great it would be to hunt boar in coastal California!

What would the wives say, when they see the Visa bill, and a charge for ONE airline ticket to Italy, and a $1,000 charge to Guissepe's Hog Rancho?

The solution is obvious One Track, take the wives (or girlfriends) along!  If the ladies don't hunt, they can shop.  If you want to spend $1000 at Guissepe's Hog Ranch, give them $1000 to go shopping with.  They will be out of your hair and happy.

I hear ya Mudwalker.  Great idea. Luckily, my wife is very thrifty. Otherwise, we would be totally broke trying to match fun monies.  I'm a lucky guy.  However, if it were a trip to Italy, I wouldn't go without her.  We spent three weeks there a few years ago.  I loved every minute.  In my opinion, the best food in the world is in Italy.  France is a close second. Oh yah, hog hunting.  I would rather go to Tejon Ranch.

Yeah, I think Tejon is the place to go for a hog hunt.  Italy would be fun for some wine and food, and to see some REALLY old stuff.  Spending that kind of trip and money on a hog hunt... nah.

Kinda a neat thought, though.  If I had money to just toss around...

But besides, I KNOW my girlfriend would rather use that $1000 to hunt with me, rather than shopping in Italy.

Good to hear Speck.  I thought you were losing your mind. Then, I started thinking, "Wow, maybe Speck is so wealthy that he could take all of us."

    MAC,
Where is Herst Castle? From the sound of your post it is somewhat local.

Yeah, One Track.  Speck is so "wealthy" he can barely pay attention... much less load you guys up on an airliner for a hog hunt in Italy.  Of course, if I COULD afford something like that, wouldn't it be a heck of a party?  I can almost see it now...

Evan,

Hearst Castle is in San Simeon, just up Highway 1 from Pismo Beach.  Pretty neat thing,  and I usually don't even enjoy those "tourist" things.  I dig that period in American history, though, so it was cool.
