I should be able to make it. If we want to be in the same campground, we should pick which area - north, south or desert. Kernhuntr has hunted it a couple of times and can probably comment on which area might be best (pigs are everywhere - campgrounds are different).
I've only been to the North end. The campground there is pretty nice. Level ground and it has running water. Real easy to pull a trailer in and out of. Plenty of room.
After everbody deceides which side, we need to get on it quick, they sale out in a hurry. I don't think it matters much as far as which has more hogs, they are all over the place. I'll try to call Sandy next week and find out when the paper work is being sent out for the hunt and post it.
I talked to a guy today that has hunted both the Desert and South sides. He said the desert's camping was sparse at best, but the south was pretty nice with room for trailers and some shade. I hope to check with Sandy tommorow about comparing all three sides and to check when the paper work will be sent out.
Hi everyone,,I visit here quite a bit and think you have one of the better hunting sites on the web. (Now that the "brown nosing" is out of the way,,smiling) I'd like to try and make this event if possible. Since I'm not sure where this Tejon Ranch is, (outside of that it's in S CA) ,,any idea how far it is from the Reno/Sparks area? Any other Reno area guys that check in here that might want to go? Is there a site I can visit for the details of the Tejon Ranch hunts?
thanks for the help! steve

Steve: If you go straight down Hiway 395 it would be about 7hrs to Tehachapi, and from there probably less than an hour, depending where the North entrance to the ranch is. Figure 3 1/2-4 hrs to Bishop from Reno and then another 2 1/2 to the turn off just North of Mojave.....hronk
How many people do they allow on these hunts and do they usually fill right up? It's my 4 days off in April and I would like to say YES for sure. But I really sweet-talked Mamma to go on that Bahama trip so 2 trips in 2 months might be a trick. I'm still sending in for the info. as we speak.Odds right now are 60% yes. God, am I going to owe her. I might even have to take her shopping to some big city somewhere.....hronk
Now we got to decide which area (north, south, desert) we're going to hunt.
GottaGoHoggin, There's a lot of posts here on the Pig-o-ramas if you do a search. You can also call them and get a brochure in the mail. There done now about every 2-3 months. Starts friday at 12 noon (check in) and ends sunday evening. $300.00 unguided, $10.00 once a year liability ins, free camping, biggest hog in each of the 3 areas wins $500.00.
There's another hunt May 10-12. Hopefully the family will be gone by then. Last May was great.
Here's what I'm wondering. Are these hogs going to get hunted out? Tejon is scheduling a lot of these hunts nowadays. Feb, Apr, May, June.... They're making some serious quick cash. This place is land rich and cash poor. They're loving JHP right now for the publicity. I wonder if Don Geivet even knows about JHP. Have you or Jesse spoke with him? I gotta believe that they have a wildlife bioligist that works the ranch. Just wondering if the hogs can keep up with 150 hunters shooting at them every month, (not including all their other hunts.)
