Hey guys,

I'm getting some emails and such, and I'm happy to answer questions so please don't stop. But there are a couple of recurrent themes, so let me deal with them real quick.

First... the application packets and such haven't even been mailed to me yet, and probably won't be for a few months. My guess is that we'll probably see them in the fall, about the same time as the PORs are announced for 2003-2004. Barbara said they will still be finalizing any rules changes and such over the Summer.

So go ahead and mark your calendars, and start loading the piggy banks. Start sweet-talking the wife/girlfriend/husband/boyfriend/etc. Wouldn't hurt to get out to the range and double-check that zero. But don't bother to send me your addresses and contact info yet. I'll do my best to keep up with the ones I've already got, but I'll see a lot of email between now and then, so who knows what I'll be able to find when the time comes. When the application packets come in, I'll post to let everyone know, and then I can start collecting that info.

Along the same lines, I've had a couple of questions about how many hunters will be allowed for this event. I haven't nailed down a specific number with Tejon, yet. However, during the PORs they usually allow 50 hunters in each of the three areas. This number is probably a little flexible, especially if we're the only group scheduled that weekend.

It's still possible that we might actually field too many hunters. How to deal with that? Well, the fairest and easiest way is to do it just like Tejon does. Your paid application holds your spot. I'll do everything I can to notify everyone when the apps are available, and I'll get them out as quick as I can after you request them. It's up to you to turn them back around to me as quick as you can. When it hits the limit, I'll post up a waiting list here on JHP. Just like Tejon, once you send your money you'll have until 48 hours before the event to bail out. After that, your check will be in the hands of Tejon Ranch. If someone bails out, I'll contact the first person on the waiting list and go down like that.

When the application packets come in, I'll have more detail about how to pay and everything. But just so everyone's comfy... you'll be making your checks out to Tejon Ranch, not to me. Your money will be as safe as the US Postal Service can make it on its way to my house. Once it's in my hands, believe me, it will be VERY safe until I hand it over to the good people at the ranch.

More info will come when it's available. It's also possible that some of what I just said will change slightly, depending on Tejon Ranch policies. The main thing is, we're on their calendar!

Pit:

Tent? What about a new front grill for that wagon of yours? Did you ever tell the boys about that fence? Just checkin' y'all.

Speck, thanks for the info. I'll send up all my information and my deposit today.

Be there fo sure. There were way too many hunters at the March POR. Bear trap looked like opening day in A zone near the Figueroas!

One;
Fence? What fence?... Oh, you must mean the Jimmy Snare that was strung across the road near Bakersfield when we went on a 4hr detour through the mud somewhere near the Tejon ranch. Bessie III ain’t been the same since.

I can’t wait to go again. It can only be better. (No whisky for me, thank you) I can’t seem to find my harp, but I’m sure it wont be missed.

I'm from way up north, but I'm in for this one. I may have some room on my way south.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
