Hey folks

In the last week of December I will be on a cow elk hunt on the Jicarilla Reservation in northern New Mexico. I need a boot reccomendation. I live in CA and mos to of the time I have to worry about heat not cold.

Whats a good boot for that time of year and terrain? Do I need a Pac type boot?

Thanks

This info is about 10 yrs old, but if it's the $250 a day till you get one hunt like my dad did there in the 90s you'll need a sneaker type boot to be able to launch out o fthe truck to get your shot from the road. Unless things have changed, the hunt he did was pure road hunting with shots from 100-????? yds. The "guide" got out of the truck when they finally shot something. At the time everyone was nailing elk, but few if any were not riding the roads. My dad saw lots of elk and had fun, and got his on the second day. December should put you into bunches of them as they migrate onto the res after the snows come.

They have a great processing setup and don't forget to take your guide to dinner.

Otherwise I'd just get a nice insulated waterproof steep terrain kind of boot that you would be use in othere places in the future.
