Junior Hunts

My daughter is doing her hunters education, she is 11, so we will be doing big game next year (2023). I just want to get ahead of the game. Any special junior hunts, I need to look for and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. She is very excited to be able to hunt big game with her dad and grandpa.

My sons got 3 deer as juniors at hunter liggett, one cow elk at grizzly island, and a hog at joice island. Chances are better for getting drawn if you forget about the trophy hunts and go for the either-sex/doe/cow hunts. These hunts are well planned to really help the kids get the best chance of getting something. They are by far the most exciting and rewarding hunts I’ve ever been on. We didn’t do the waterfowl hunts, but the late season junior goose hunt is supposed to be great too.

My oldest don took his first deer last year in the J14 zone. My second oldest put in for J11 this year. Junior hunts, in my opinion are well worth it.

Is it the same as putting in for draws? Or is it different. I did hunter Leggett as a kid, my dad doesn't remember how we signed up and that was 20 years ago..haha.. thanks for the info

They just put in like we would put in and the results are posted in June? Thanks

My oldest got drawn for either sex at Liggett the same year we got drawn for X12 He got his first buck then a doe on the base. Very memorable trips

Yes. Junior hunts are a part of the normal bug game hunt draw and the results will be posted at the same time.

Yes. Your kid applies for the “J” hunts as part of the big game draw.
