Great hogs guy's. Nothing better than a father and son hunting together and making their first kills. Those memories will last you both a lifetime.

Deedy, I'm still saving my money by checking the washing machine and couch cushions for loose change, so I can bring my own son down there to experience all the wonderful hospitality and hunting you offer. At the rate I'm going though, it won't be until next year, so please don't run out of porkers.

Ok the story......We arrived a bit late on Friday evening and within minutes of arriving Deedy was on the radio telling her daughter to get us out in the field as soon as possible. We jumped in her car and were down the road like a bat out of hell! Let's just say she drives it like she stole it and if you need some excitement in your life then you found the right driver.
So we get to the barley fields about ten minutes later and met Deedy and Tom Willoughby who are already glassing the hills. I had three new hunters with me and I wanted all of them to get pigs before me. So we sent the father/son team with Tom up in to the barely fields and Deedy to me and my buddy Eric to another area. Not twenty minutes later we hear a shot ring out with no follow up shot. Now I was thinking that either they completely missed or they had one down. I was glad just to hear the discharge of the rifle.
The area we ended up in had a ton of signs so we set up and started to wait. A 20 minutes later shot number 2 rings out, again no follow up shot. We waited in our area until dark without seeing any pigs so we hiked out bak to the car. We got on the radio and Karin tells us that Doug and Dustin have two pigs down and one of them is huge! Deedy knew exactly which hog it was because this solo boar had been seen for that last several months and nobody had taken it down. When we all met up all I saw was the bright white teeth of the father and son and a pickup full of pork. These guys looked like they just won the lottery! I was real proud when I saw the bullet holes located perfectly in each shoulder. This was their first hunt ever and within two hours of arriving they were no longer strangers the thrill of hunting!
So we then head back to the cabins and watch Tom take apart the pigs with an old jack knife. I'm telling you the truth when I say that the price of the trip was worth it just to watch Tom take apart the pigs. Remember that bad Zorro movie where Zorro does the quick Z movement with his sword and the bad guy thinks nothing happens but a few seconds later his clothes are falling off? That exactly what its like watching Tom dress a pig. I dont think there is anyone any faster than Tom. He can have a pig butcher ready in around 6 minutes. I'm not going to tell you all his tricks but lets just say that the best part is when his breaks leg bones with his bare hands.
After all the fun we head to our cabins. Everything looked brand new and clean. The beds were clean and comfy and the kitchens were fully stocked with everything you need.
On Saturday morning we were up at 430am getting ready to go get em in the barley fields with Tom. We set up in a good area with Tom and Deedy started hiking all over the hills trying top flush some pigs our way. SHe jumped several but we couldn't get them in our directions. We did see a large heard of bucks in her barely that will be worth chasing when deer season opens up. We called it a morning after a few hours and went looking around at Deedy's other properties. We never saw any more pigs so we headed back to camp to relax and get a nap in.
At 5:00pm we headed out with Tom to some new areas and sure enough the pigs were coming out the hills in droves! Eric was up to bat and within a short time he had a hog on the ground! Tom had put us on a good stalk up to a group of 30 pigs under an oak tree and on the way there we had to crawl along side some chamise. I heard a grunt right over my shoulder and looked over and saw a large pig starring at me not 15 feet away! I started to swing my rifle towards it just in case it started to charge. It got a good smell of us and headed off in the other direction without alarming the pigs in the field. Eric set up and dropped a young male dead in his tracks.
Then it was my turn and dark was coming on fast. Tom quickly put me on some pigs and I blew it! So at the end of the trip the newbies all got pigs and the experienced guy blew it and got nada! Hows that!

Heres the low down........
The resort is great and Deedy, Karin, and Leyla all do a great job making sure you are comfortable. Deedy is a great guide and does her best to put you on pigs. Tom is the bonus if he happens to be helping out with the hunts. There's great squirrel hunting just minutes from the cabin if you get bored and you can always do a ton of other activities that are close to the resort. The deer and turkey populations and really healthy and if you book these you have great odds of getting the job done. The area is just plain ol' gamey! Book now before the secret is out!
Thanks Deedy and crew!

Dear Bighog- thank you so much for thinking of me- father /son hunts are very rewarding for me as well, it's sooo great to see the bonding that takes place, and I'm sure it does last a lifetime... I would be honored to have you both.

Dear Sidepass, do you need some pork recipes ? You'll eat more pork that way, your freezer will be empty sooner and you'll be here quicker!

Honestly, thanks to everyone who has came and to those of you who are coming. I'm glad you guys are so happy- we have as much fun as you all do. We feel very blessed.
