Just got back last night and its a drag to be back at work.  Had a great hunt with Frank Morasci this last weekend.  I have hunted with Frank for years and this was the best trip yet.  7 of us took 8 pigs with 3 being boars from 230-270 lbs.  Teeth went from 2 1/2" to 3 1/2".  Shots ranged from 40 yds to 200 yds and no dogs were used to bay any pigs.  I was lucky enough to take the big one.  Now I have to decide if I want to get him mounted.  What do you guys think?  He has a perfect set of teeth on his right side with 3 1/2" cutters and 2"+ whetters, but on his left side the whetter is broken off to about an inch or so and his cutter is broken off to about 2 1/2".  His left ear is also split and a strip of it hangs down.  Must have been one nasty fight.  I also shot him behind the ear and the bullet tore the hide.  Is this something to worry about or can the taxidermist sew that up?  It is behind the ear so it would be out of sight on the wall.  Anyone know a good taxidermist in San Diego?  This would be my first animal to have mounted.  Any advice is appreciated.

Sounds like an awesome hunt, SD!  Did all the pigs come from one general area, or did you have to cover several ranches?

I've got really high hopes for Tejon this coming weekend.  Other than that, it'll be summertime hunting for me.

Speck,
The pigs came from 3 separate ranches.  Friday evening we killed 5 hogs on two ranches beacuse our group was split up, 3 on one ranch and 4 on another.  Saturday morning the last 2 guys killed 3 pigs on another ranch.  It was neat to get to try some new areas.  Good luck at Tejon.

I have hunted with numerous guides in the Central Coast area..I would have to say Frank Morasci is one of the better guides in the area, due to the fact he has access to A LOT of property and works really hard to get you hogs and he'll adjust your hunt the way you wanna hunt (Spot & Stalk, Dogs, Etc) the choice is yours......Anybody who books a hunt with Frank, should know you'll get your monies worth......

Congrats on your hog SDHNTR. I think those hogs and bucks with the tears in their ears and loose or missing teeth or antlers just adds more to the mount.

  SDHNTR,
Congrats on the pig. I agree with Jesse, scars are good. Especially on pigs. Plus it makes it look like a WILD animal.

Hoghunter714,
Actually Frank's number is now (831)386-9027.  The area code changed a few years back and he moved a couple years ago.  QBN Hunter, give him a call and you'll have a great time.
