Found where some pigs were hanging out on our florida lease. 11 yr old daughter had never shot a pig so the next week I took her to see if they were still in the area. We parked the 4 wheeler and got off. I loaded her 30-30 and handed it to her. It was about 1/4 mile to where I had seen them so we started walking and I was talking to her about waiting for the right shot/angle, where to shoot it, etc..
we had gone about 50 yrds and I looked up and there was a boar standing in the trail. I stopped her and pointed it out to her. She raised the gun and shot it in the shoulder and it dropped. 98lb. boar. She said that was too easy. I'll take a 50yrd drag over a 1/4 mile anyday.
A week later called my son from work and asked him if he wanted to see if they were still out there.
We parked the 4 wheeler and started walking unfortunately it was about 1/4 mile later we ran into about 10 hogs and of course he picked out the biggest of the bunch. I aint as good as I once was, I was wore out by the time we got to the 4 wheeler.

Congrats on some great hogs! Nothing better than hunting with the family and eatin' what you kill. Very cool.

Congratulations!

Your 11-year old daughter can handle the 30-30? I must be a sizzy and should stop complaining about my sore and black& blue shoulder.

Someone had caught the red one when it was young and cut it. It should be some good eating
Beastslayer,
I put a youth stock on my old Marlin lever action for her and she loves it. It fits her pretty good and she is deadly with it. Scope gets her once in while but she is tuff. I offered to get her a .243 youth model (so I could have my 30-30 back) but she says she likes the 30-30.
As long as they are going with me, I'm happy.
