First of all let me say AWESOME SITE!!! love the posts!. I am new the the forum but there so much info going around I get all warm inside LOL ok to the juice. I bought the Kodak Advantix F320 camera at walmart for like 26 buck with tax. (cheap!) I wired it to the pic button but after like 5 min or so it goes into sleep mode. I am pretty good at electronics but I am confused as to how to eliminate it going into sleep mode. I am building a trail cam out of the rs 426 pir and I have that much done. it works and I can even get the cam to work but if it sets for more than 5 min nothing.

I am not looking to use a timer cause I want the natural effect. but I may look into replacing the r11 with a higher one for films sake. I am perplexed on this cam thing. other than that I am ready to take pics! so I hope some one can help. thanks for all of the great info guys keep it coming.

You will have to have a refresh circuit adder to your setup to keep it from going to sleep. The noemal way of doing this is to use a timer with an IC chip that has a refresh function. You could also just build a refresh, but if it was me, I'd go with the timer.

ok if I have to add a timer which one do I use? and how does it hook up? I have read some discussions about this but I Have not have diagram for how to build this or where I can locate one. also how much will it add to the total cost of the cam?

Brian has a board that he builds and sells. It has a refresh on it. He makes one for digital and one for regular 35mm. He sells it for $36 shipping included. Has numerous other features too. I am very pleased with his board, and he will help you with everything. Great support!

Thanks guys for the replys but I think I figured it out. inside the front cover there is a slide contact. and I was sitting there just wonderin' how I was gonna figure this thing out when bang! it hit me. (really I think it was the shocks from the camera.) but any way I thought hey this camera still shoots pics when the cover is off. anytime. so......... I wondered what if I take off the slide contact? so I tried it and it works. come to find out the camera has a built in timer circut for the shut off but..... it only works when the slide makes the contact hence eliminating the contact you eliminate the timer.

i dont know about that DA. If it doesnt got to sleep and get awakened by the refresh, I think your batteries wont last very long. I dont know that for sure though.
