Not much of a story about this one... got to the ranch around 6:30 expecting not much to happen for an hour or so as it was a warm day. Immediately spotted a group of sows grazing in the cool grass in the valley and made a stalk with the wind to within 75 yards. Waited for a good broadside shot and dropped her, a nice 185 lb sow. I reluctantly switched to copper bullets this year (TSX) but have been surprising happy with their performance. All the hogs I’ve killed with them have been DRT with massive exit wounds. Haven’t hit a big boar yet but I can’t imagine it will be any different.
This was also my first chance to try my new trailer hitch mounted gambrel. LOVE IT! Just over $100 from Amazon and it’s great. Easy to crank up a heavy hog, it locks in place so it doesn’t spin, and can rotate to drop the carcass into the trunk.
