I just got out of a meeting with the Park Manager, DFG biologist, Game Warden and Lt. I can’t give too many details yet, but there will be hog hunting this fall/winter at Lake Sonoma. The check in procedures will be changing a lot and we also will be doing shotgun slug hunts in February (I know you bow guys don’t like that but I’m hoping it will bring the success rate up). There will be no hunting allowed on Mondays and Tuesdays but an additional portion of the park on the warm spring’s side of the lake from Island view campground to Stewarts Point road will be re-opening to hunting.
That’s all I can share for now, I still have to negotiate the closing date with the park manager as well as the details regarding check in.

I forgot to mention, the acorn crop is HUGE this year. Won’t mean much for this fall’s hunt but I bet you will see a lot more piglets this spring!

Very cool.

Folks, if you take advantage of it, make sure you remember that there are eyes on you and everything you do there.

This is good news, but I hope there will be no more ANTI-Bowhunting signs posted in the Glass Case at the check-in station.

That is great news Joel, is there any chance for us to still have some kind of a meeting or even a sugestion box we can put our concerns in. we could make the lake a better place to hunt with little effort.

Question:

How do I get a topic “pined” as important so it does not drop off of the forum?

I would like to post the 2007-2008 Lake Sonoma hunt calendar and information sheet here so I can refer my phone callers to this location.

Hi all,
Attached is a copy of the Official 2007-2008 Lake Sonoma Hunt Information sheet. I also have a calendar available as well but it was too large to post here.
You can get it from me by e-mail.
joel.d.miller@spd02.usace.army.mil

Pleas pay special attention to the requirement to register with the visitor center staff for your annual park hunting pass.
