Its lake Sonoma!!!! THERE ARE ALWAYS PIGS!!! If you kill one, 3 more are born! BUT, the trick is to figure out when they start to move, and where they will be when they start moving! If you can figure that out then you are doing good!

I finally had the opportunity to hunt Lake Sonoma Feb. 2009 with my slug gun. Although I didn't see any boar, I saw the devastation they've wreaked on the hillsides (looked like someone had gone wild with a roto-tiller). Anyway, I greatly appreciate you working to open up public land to hunters and was glad to "perform my civic duty" helping eradicate this invasive (and tasty!) species.

Hi, I'm new in this forum and I've learned a lot of information already. I have question at lake sonoma, Can I still hunt using my rifle after April 11, 2009? or they are only open from November 19, 2008- April 11, 2009? Thanks

The hunting season for Pigs is over at Lake Sonoma, you can only use a shotgun during the month of February. The Rest of the season is Archery only. If you scroll up on this post you can download the hunting maps and guidelines.

I was looking at lake Sonoma the past year for a pig hunt. I go boat in camping there on my canoe. I saw there is a drawing. Why is that if there is free public hunting anyways? I also hit up Lower Cottonwood creek recently on a draw we won. We glassed it a couple of weeks before and saw that people hunted there all the time and recently too. Why are there draws on places that you can hunt anyways? am I dumb or just missing something? Is it a first dibs thing?

I read them all. There's just nothing about the draw in Ranger Joel's post. Thanks for answering my queston.
But what about cottonwood creek and it's draw this past month when people are hunting there anyways? Any idea?

the cottonwood creek draw is for the opener of the rifle season so there isnt to many people in the area. archery season there are no draws cuz they figure not as many hunt archery as compared to rifles

Cottonwood is another subject. Someone should start a cotton wood post.
