I have hunted LS for several years now and I dont seem to ever have a huge problem with running into other hunters throughout the 5 day week. At best, I might run into 1 maybe 2 people during the day. Most days though, I never see anyone. Let the pigs rest. Its a difficult place to hunt to begin with so keep the pressure off and let them feed.

i hear ya Beastie! ok, then how about swicthing the hunting days to thur.-tue. and they can have wed.& thur. off instead, that would thro them off and they can still get their 2 days of no hunting pressure and give us a better opp. to harvest. got to get back to work! talk to ya later! have a great day!....tra

I would sign support in keeping it 5 days. Just like alot of public areas that receives to much public pressure the pigs go onto private lands or more nocturnal.

my main reason why i want to hunt mondays and tuesdays because they are my days off, i have to work everyweekend, so it sucks that everytime i want to just go hunt i have to request time off. you can only request so much time off if u really want to keep a job secure these days. so it limits me to hunting by always having to request time off.
all i want is a public place to hunt pigs where i can just get up and go whithout a hassle of always asking for time off. so for me thats lake sonoma, but unfortunetly thats not possible because they wont let us hunt on mondays and tuesdays. so thats my problem. if i could hunt l.s. on mon. & tue.i would have the opp. to hunt every week but with my time off situation i might ony get 4 or 5 days to hunt l.s. for the season.

so i dont how many of you l.s. wild pig bowhunters are in my same situation, hope u can understand my frustration to get out and hunt without always haveing to pull teeth to get out into the woods and hunt. i just want to get up and go anytime to hunt, butt for now thats just an out of reach dream.......tra

I feel your pain tra, but sometimes changes are hard to make, personally I don't see it making much diff, thurs/fri closed, mon/tue closed, good luck, lets just keep it simple and all archery. but like I said before I think the days are for the ranger in charge to be present, (working those days) so the ranger might have to change his days off.

info

Hey all. looking forward to another year of exciting bow hunting at lake sonoma! Here is some information that might be helpful...

Last year was my first year hunting at LS. Luckily for me i live only 30 minutes south of the lake so i got to go hunting quite a bit. I only got to hunt on the weekends, out of the 8 weekend i hunted i saw pigs 7 of them. i got two shots off last year and missed both. i also had an opportunity to shoot a large boar that was sleeping under a tree but i passed it up. The first couple of weeks there were hunters everywhere, but at the same time so were the pigs. When the rain started to fall it seemed like the i saw less hunters and more hogs. There was several weekends that i went out and never saw another hunter. A boat isnt a must, but it deffinately helps. I went out to yorty creek last week (with my boat) and between the hours of 7 and 10 i spotted 22 hogs.
Here is a website with all of the information on the 2010/2011 pig hunting season at LS.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. Also, if anyone is looking for a hunting buddy let me know. Most of my hunts last year i was all by my lonesome.

thanks for the info D.E.S.. see how quick time flys! less then 8 weeks till the opener!
i guess there will still be no hunting on mon. & tue. this year (that really sucks for me) so i am going to put a time off request for the opening week and camp and hunt on the wed. thur. and mayby friday that week if everything goes well. so if anyone wants to share a hunt with me at that time let me know. cant wait to be chasing those l.s piggies again!...tra

27th? I forgot that I had called last month and the lady told me November 18. Marked it on my calendar and everything.
Ok so the 27th it is. Im there for opening weekend for sure.
Never been to LS for a hunt. Be interesting exploring around. Are you allowed to hike there right now? Itd be good to start scouting around.
No boat for me. Ill be hoofing it in and out. Maybe I can buy a plastic inflatable so if i do stick a pig i can float us out of there. Im thinking a floating palm tree.

Since 1492

Is it november 28 yet?

My favorite teeshirt has Red Cloud in full battle regalia, and says: ":thread jacked:Homeland Security: Fighting Terrorism since 1492." Wore it through customs once, nobody said a word.
