Ok I'll be at the lake tomorrow afternoon and Friday morning "hunting and killing only", I am going to stay at Liberty Glen Camp ground. Need anything I'll be on Radio Channel 5-0. Look for a "Bloody Nissan Titan".
Just got back from there. Beautiful habitat, lots of fresh sign, but I didn't see a piggie. Low ground fog and mist kept the visibility low. Met a group of eight in the morning, including the visitors from Colorado and Utah, and I hope they do well. One group saw some hogs, which was encouraging. Good luck LD and whoever else is heading up there.
Well after hearing Lurediver took a shot last night I changed plans and headed back to Lake Sonoma this morning. Pheasants can wait. I heard that LD took a shot at last light yesterday and was out trying to recover his hog. Saw his truck but it was empty.
Hunted a ridge (thanks for the help AS) and saw some old sign. As I was slowly walking over the crest of a knoll I heard a snort and less than 20 yards away the brush and leaves erupted. Four hogs were bedded down, saw me and bolted. They bee-lined it into some brush and I lost sight of them. Worked the area even slower and quieter and didn't find them again. Man, that was fun. The rains we've had still weren't enough to soak the dry oak leaves. Can't wait to get back there.
Those poor guys that flew in from Colorado just called me to see if I could accomodate them since they are at Sonoma right now and cant hunt tomorrow or Sunday. I said sure, you are in luck because I'm free this weekend but it will take a while to get to Hollister. They said they'd call me back. What would BDB do??
Thats the same answer I got from Pigig and Arrowslinger.. I dont think they are gonna make it, it has been an hour since their first phone call and I have not heard back from 'em yet.
GetDown GetaLife, because you live near doesn't make it yours. I've hunted there since the first day and happily share info. It wasn't any easier to get a hog back then than it is now. With the public land pig situation being what it is in this state, what do you expect? I take my hat off to guys who drive hours and hours and bust brush all day and go home empty handed. Been there done that. Have you ever taken info off the net and put it to work??? Good line Rifleman
I believe they're steelhead fishing on the Trinity. They'll post up. I know they saw hogs, and one of the guys got into a 60 yard staring match with a sow.
It's them Nocals fouling up the hunting. They came down here to the Tejon hunt, layed around naked in camp, pooped on the trails. Stunk the place up royal.
