The Grim reapers did its job again!!
Harvested this nice 150lb fat sow on the high ridges of lake Sonoma. Made a quick judgement shot at 38 yards while we were busted and my buddy missed a 45 yd quick shot at another hog just 2 mins before spooking the herd.
This sow went 20yds and started break dancing and doing the death cry. I clipped the back end of her lung and a good blood vessel causing her to do a final death dance.
Now the hard work came in to pack her out of these canyons a mile side hilling straight down. I dressed her out let the liver and heart cool on some rocks. I then put a stick to hold her belly open to allow her to cool down. I drag her down hill for about 200 yds and it seemed when she started rolling down it was harder to stop her. I get down to this creek in the ravine lay her on all fours and started cutting out the backstraps front and hind quaters. flippin her over and taking out the tenderloins. Rinsing the meat in the cold creek water to cool faster then puttin it a meat bag. I weighed it at home it weighed 60lbs. It took me 4 1/2 hours to get down to the boat with a 15 lb pack,60lb of meat and my bow. I was tired and beat down with a sore back.
The 1st few pics is Trophy pic> Exit and entrance of the grim Reaper broadheads > Inch and half of fat>The thick canopy of trees hiding the rugged ridges > Then the meat bag ,back pack and Bow.
