This week the wife offered up a weekend trip to Sonoma for Valentine's Day. Since this was my first time to Sonoma, I was excited to say the least. We headed up Thursday afternoon knowing we were in for some weather. However, being Valentine's weekend we figured we could improvise if things got too wet out
! We set up camp at the Liberty Glenn campsite. Needless to say, we never ate one meal outside, due to the rain! We were able to get some good hunt time in on Friday and Saturday with lots of rain and even a little hail! Saw lots of sign... but no piggies. We saw 10 deer, including a nice healthy looking buck. I got a call Friday from a friend who was keeping tabs on the weather for us to let us know there was a severe storm warning for Saturday night with wind gust up to 70 mph! We decided to pack up camp on Saturday Morning and then head out to hunt, so that when the weather got too bad we could just head out. Glad we did! I was into quite a bit of fresh pig tracks when I got a severe storm warning on my gps. I told the wife that was it and we started heading back to the truck, and not a moment to soon. About a quarter mile to the truck it started dumping on us and by the time we got to the truck the wind was starting to kick up. Despite the rain and no pigs, it was a great trip with the wife. Talked to a few hunters up there who had also hunted a couple of days and they hadn't seen a pig either. So I didn't feel to bad.
