I believe the USACOE pig hunts started in '02.
Prior to that, yes it was a DFG draw. Archery, Shotgun, Rifle
My buddy and I drew most years and became friendly with the warden who used to let us in on most of the other scheduled weekly hunts because the majority of Jack Holes who drew would not show up.

I thought the archery only hunt started in 05. Prior to that I and few friends that put in for the drawing every year never got drawn but you and your buddy drew the hunt most years kinda explains some suspicious activities back then. And the warden letting you guys in while the people that drew didn't show up was really wrong. What was the warden's name?

Jackhole huh? What about the junior hunt either sex right before? I think the tags are perfect. You have a good chance of killing a good buck. 10 more tags means 10 more hunters to contend with. People aren't going to wait 5 years and not kill something. Small bucks get shot on this hunt because people want to go home with a deer. These bucks don't have a chance to grow up.

If you put in your time you can have multiple chances to kill bucks in general archery season in California. It just takes some dedication. If you didn't spend so much time being a whine a$$ about a guy trying to help out maybe you would have more time to research and scout.

Yes, Jackhole,
Thank God that junior hunt is only one weekend.
One of the scariest sights I've run into at LS was crossing paths with a couple of teenagers with high powered rifles shooting at every running deer they saw. Another CADFG bright idea to talk local politicians into managing deer in their county.
I've put plenty of time and research into plenty of areas in CA for many many many years Jackhole.
As a matter of fact enough time to finally decide not to waste it anymore on mismanaged over hunted CA public land.
LS is my draw of choice 1.I bow hunt exclusively 2.It's a 100 mi. drive 3. It's averaged a 2-3 yrs. wait to draw. My 2 weeks of deer hunting a year are focussed on NV or CO.
You really need to check your hunter success stats at LS or pretty much any CA Archery Only draw and seriously...you're going to tell me bow hunters are an impact on the life cycle of deer populations. That is simply, like you Jackhole... a joke.

1.('05) You thought wrong.
2. Archery only hunts were pretty easy to draw.
3. Like I said the warden invited us to the remainder of AO hunts because not to many hunters were showing up.

If you are against juniors hunting ls I have flat out lost any little respect I had for you which wasn't much. Maybe most public land is mis managed because there's so many tags :what:

The Ls hunt is during the rut for god sake. If you can't kill a blacktail during the a zone rut you have issues.

You are pissing up wind dude. You my friend should just quit hunting.

Oh no not you again.
Here you go again with turning me into an anti.
Check the stats and harvest report Chad, not as easy as you think.
LS is going to bust your ass any way you look at it.
I Understand, this is more than likely coming from someone who has a hard time admitting their wrong.
LS is no place for high power or fire arms of any kind. To many other recreational activities going on fishing, camping, hiking, ect.
Junior AO hunt... I'm all in. And would mentor any youngster who drew.
Not pissing just pissed.

I'm done here.
Yes, I am a bit overly sensitive about LS and the extra curricular hunting activity.
Just my opinion here.
Really not looking to get everyone to side with me. Can care less.
Time to take care of my family. God bless everyone and and aim for the lower 1/3 on them hogs.

Its hard to know where to begin with this thread and all the rumors and disinformation concerning the pig and deer hunts. I'm not going to waste to much of my time but ill try and answer some of the questions brought up.

1. Yes, I do have a guide license and a bond when I guide hunters, hence the term (semi)Guided hunt.
2. Permission for the program was given through the ranger and army core staff
3. I donate all of my time and my expenses . 100% of the monies go to the FOLS group which in turn is used to benefit the public and the park.

All that being said , I have been a frequent visitor to the park for over 15yrs. My involvement with FOLS started at the request of some park staff to help represent the pig hunters a few years ago.
I asked the park if they would donate a hunt opportunity for a fund raiser and they graciously agreed to. The pig hunt was a silent auction that everyone was allowed to participate in. It is and was just a fundraiser.
The deer hunt is a program that developed from ideas on allowing public access or opportunity to hunt bucks outside of the A25 draw. The deer hunt program in not about your views on public land and the entitlement we all feel about it. Its simply a program that at great expense of my time and money is a stepping stone hopefully to other programs and a proof of concept that the public can go into that area responsibly. Only 6 bucks are allowed to be harvested!
Every member here on this forum is welcome to volunteer their time , money and ideas to the park and FOLS. I encourage you to do so! I encourage you to go to other parks and volunteer your efforts as well. This is not about me or Lake Sonoma, Lake Sonoma is simply the place I decided I would try and make a difference at.

You know, your right.
We need to open an investigation here.
They really should have been doing the right thing and just gave more opportunities to teenagers with high powered rifles.
Here are the names...
Jack Meehoff, Mike Hunt and Inida Cox. Take em down!!
While your at it ask why Jayson C isn't on the CADFG guide list?
I hope this keeps you busy and if you need more information or things to do just let me know.

Let's knock it off. The topic is the auction. Thanks.

500, you need to slow your roll. The name calling and threats are not welcome here. This is your only warning.
