Well heading up to Lake Sonoma Monday 21st for the first time and was looking to see if anyone else was gonna be up there our to maybe get some pointers on where to go. This is my first time out hunting by myself, went deer hunting last year with some friends. But this is my first pig hunt. Any pointers would be great.

Thanks
Brian

Get away from the masses and find the sign! et on My topo or google earth before hand and start checking around, you can usually see a place of interest to get you stared that way.

Best get on it, it closes on the 23rd.
Just get out and you might run across pigs. I can't stress that enough, just be out there. At the very least it's fun looking for sign and interpreting it.
I'll be there the last 5 days of the season.
Good luck.

There's 2 ways I've had success there.... The 1st is I'll post up where multiple trails meet before light until 10-11 am because the pigs will travel from water/feeding to bed... the 2nd... I hike until I cross a fresh track.... I will track it to where it beds or is feeding ... These 2 methods I use requires a ton of patience.... Just hiking around hoping to run into one is a luck I just don't have so I work hard for it.... Hopefully one of the 2 methods will help... Good luck

Flytrue is correct, just be out there. Like you I am new to hunting and have been to LS twice. Saw one pig which I was stoked about! I'm headed out in a few hours (live in folsom) for a hunt early tomorrow AM. I might be out there Monday too. PM me if you want another noob to hunt with. Good luck!

BrianB.... hey I live in manteca looking into getting into pig hunting myself! Taking my son turkey hunting this weekend, but looking for a hunting buddy older than my son for times he can't go! Hit me up maybe we can hook up sometime! It would be cool to go with you next week to learn something new too, but I pick up my sons .270 on Monday he won in a raffle last month from the CDA. ..Mikey scouted some turkeys Tuesday, called them in to 10 yards without a decoy! Man I wish it was opening weekend for us adults. ..lol

Call the Visitor Center to see if u can get a hold of Ranger Joel for any spotting info where turkeys are frequenting he is always doing stuff around the lake and he is a jho member too, he's a great guy to talk too about what's going on at the lake I have chatted with him before.
I have Hunted the lake many times and turkeys can pop up just about anywhere i use to see a lot below the liberty Glen area......tra

Well went up Monday after work, got up there about 6:30pm. And about 3 hours later it was pouring, but stayed dry in the tent. Got up early the next morning and was out for about 4 hours. Went down below Loop b of the campsite and followed the trails. Saw lots of sign but no pigs. Tried 2 other spot later in the day and again sign there had been pigs but no pigs. Those that had been asking about turkeys didn't see any but heard a few on the other side of the lake from down below loop B. All in all a good trip definitely goin to go again when it start up again in November. thanks to all for the advice and pointers.
