Lake Sonoma Reports

I was up at Lake Sonoma last weekend. Only had about and hour and a half to hunt, but there was a lot of sign. Didnt spot any pigs. Saw a nice buck though. Anyone been out there this last week? Just seeing if anyone else is having some luck up there.

I was up there sunday, saw tracks just bout everywhere only thing I saw was some loose dogs. I ran into a guy that got one a few weeks ago, wouldnt give me any hints as to where though.

That's how hunters are. Very secretive of their spot after making a kill, especially on public lands. Hunting pigs on public land is based more on luck than skills and I would rather have luck any day of the week. Heck, if I shot one, I'll let you guys know where. Pigs are always going in and out of public lands and you'll never know where they'll be next. Again, I wish this place was closer to me so I could check it out. Driving 4 hours to bow/shotgun hunt is just not worth it for me. Good luck hunting everyone.

I was up there last week, and saw ALOT of tracks, nothing too fresh. Spotted a sow with 3 piglets roughly 50 yards past a private property fence. Like hutningbret said, hunting lake sonoma is more luck then anything. Pigs are in and out, and mostly nocturnal. but then again, you get onto one of the surrounding properties and you will see pigs EVERYWHERE!

Yeah, ive been hunting there for a few years now and i know how the pigs can be. it really is just luck at lake sonoma to see them because there is sign everywhere you go, so wheres theres sign, theres been pigs. its just a matter of being there when they are. im going up again this weekend.

I was up there last Friday. I missed a big sow at 40 yards. Hit a tree limb between us. Arrow sailed safely over her back. I found more fresh sign on that ridge and will possibly try and take the boat back up on the 9th.

so far every thing is looking pretty good on the weather front this week so i will be up there for sure thur.8th. & fri.9th., it will be my first time hunting there, cant wait to check it out. i guess i will be camping at the liberty glen site. if any of you guys want to hook up let me know.

hey Kentuck, can you fish at night at lake sonoma? thur. is going to be a long night till morning it would be cool if i could fish at night after hunting to pass some time, thanks............tre

If we get a little more rain before the 9th. I will be heading up on the 9th. for the day.Maybe I will look you up,what are u driving.
The answer to your question is yes u can fish at night.I've done some catfishing up there many times.Great way to pass the time when not hunting.

I dont know if you guys are using anykind of topo maps up there, I found a site you can print them out for free. They arent awesome but they with definatley give ya an idea of what you have to walk up or down to get somewhere. digital-topo-maps.com. I work in Healdsburg ill be jealous of ya all up there havin a good ole time. Stick one for all us that cant be up there.

Just a quick reminder, if you've not hunted Sonoma this year, you have to go to the visitor center and get registered before you hunt. Quick process and they'll assign you a hunter number and give you some passes for your vehicle/boat. Not supposed to be on the lake property if you haven't done that yet.

Kentuck, i plan on leaving around 5:30 am thur. should arrive there around 8, and then register when they open at 8:30 and take care of all the paperwork and stuff, then head out to hunt. then do some night time fishing and camp for the night, and then we will meet up fri. morning and do some exploring. talk to ya soon, got to go back to work........................tra
