yes unethical was a poor choice, doesn't really apply,, but after tras' rant a while back about ethical hunting that struck me. I was taught not to keep an arrow nocked all day while hiking about, if you were to slip, trip, fall you could be injured by the broadhead if you fell wrong, or I've seen a guy who did just that but he wasn't hurt but cut his bowstring in a flash, game over. Furthermore, being ready for that fleeting glimpse at a pig insinuates taking risky shots, just the way it sounded. And yes I do nock an arrow if I know I'm on pigs under the right situation, sound, smell, super slow stalking. But back to the op question, I've only hunted from a boat ther so that's the best advice I can give, bring a boat. We've had good luck around old sawmill in years past before it was closed, I believe it's open again. Loggers and beyond up high, generally most beds I've found are 1/2 -3/4 up the hills, because they have bad eyesight they also have symbiotic relationships with other animals out there, mostly deer, which help to alert dangers. Hot spots?...that is weather and food related, find fresh rooting and increase your chances...when the rains come wallows don't get used as much, but flip flop it and good things to look for. Boots on ground, watch the weather changes, think like aa pig, good luck. What do you mean? I don't usually keep my release on the string but what is wrong with hiking with an arrow notched? Unethical? Really?
