wanting to go up to lake sonoma but dont quite understand how 2 do it? i have read other posts and am still not clear can someone break it down for me and help me out?
well for starters, you better hurry. the lake closes to hunting on april 11th(some where around then). so you only have a week or so.
second, you need to register as a hunter before you can hunt. most guys show up late the first day, so the office is open. all they do is check your tags, note your vehicle info, and you are good to go. you do get a great talk about boundaries and stuff.
i am not so sure if there are going to be any changes next year.
office opens at 8:00 am and during registration you'll receive an orientation and given your hunter #, boat tag/sticker. maps are available at visitor center, easy to read and will guide your way around.
you have Liberty Glen as your drive in campground. all others are either a hike in or a boat in. there's a public boat ramp to launch on the Liberty Glen side of the lake, but Yorty Creek is only car-top boats and no trailers.
Rockpile road will be the main road that cuts between both arms of the lake, and few pull off parking lots for hiking in with trails.
I'm still pretty new to LS, since I live here in OR, and the guys here on JHO are veterans to the place but just sharing some info to make things easier.
