Another senerio,
Archer shoots hog,dog wounds himself on the arrow sticking out of the pig,dog bleeds to death.Happens all the time.
Was someone there to witness the archer shoot into a pack of dogs?
Archer fled seen in fear of Guides w/guns approaching.
If the guide encroaches LS property to recover his hounds,he must to be unarmed.Otherwise he is a poacher.
I am pretty sure he was unarmed. he doesn't carry while on foot. And think about the scenario you describe. While not totally unfeasible, it sounds highly unlikely. I just can't see somebody hitting a pig while being chased by a dog. That would be one fast moving pig. I think the real underlying theme here is unethical behavior. If the scenario played out like you suggest, that is an archer made a clean shot on a pig with no knowledge of the approaching dog, then I would not condemn him. However, every other possibility points toward tragically bad judgment on the part of the archer. Whether the dog was approaching, at the pig, on the pig, near the pig, or any other version that isn't "no dog in sight or sound" the arrow shouldn't have flown. After that bad decision was made, the archer further dishonored all other hunters by not telling the guide that his dog may be injured. I mean, really....what are the chances that the archer didn't see, or hear the dog getting poked if it was the best case scenario of the pig's arrow sticking through and stabbing the dog. Not only that, but I talked to the guide personally, he said there was one small wound on the dog. Which to me sounds like it hit the dog as it passed through the pig. If it were sticking out and the dog bumped it, I would expect not just the initial stab but also a laceration from the dog pulling away as it felt the impact. I just can't imagine two animals coming together like that and then breaking away cleanly along the same direction. I can however picture an arrow coming through the pig and the dog pulling directly away from the arrow resulting in a clean stab wound.
