I'm getting antsy for this year's hunt! I'm going this weekend to fish and check my trail cam. I'll post any interesting pics I may get. In the meantime, here's a boar I shot last year, not 10 yards from the guardrail on Rockpile Rd.

My cali hunting partner and great freind was up there at L.S. this past weekend and sent me this pic of a boar with a big melon and nice cutters he came across, probably died from heat stroke...... lol.......tra

I talked with a docent on Sunday, she said registration will likely begin this coming weekend. Gonna have a boat this year, super stoked.

Snuck up on a bunch of bedded hogs last weekend while I was at the lake for the A25 hunt. I thought I had a good video but I turned it off and missed all the good stuff. Here is a screen shot from the video. As usual when I can't hunt something I see them and get several easy 15yd broadside shots.

jb229, cool pic! At first I didn't see anything. How many do you think are in the pic?

There are 4 in the picture, at least 8 others busted out all around me once I really let them know I was there. 2 boars in the group were going at it for at least 40 minutes as they made their way through each draw.

I spent the weekend walking around my likely hunting areas up at the lake to scout around, and also toget my permit for the coming season. On Saturday I popped one pig out of his hole near a brush covered seep, and on Sunday we saw a couple of pigs crossing a ridge a couple draws over on private land. That's it. Oh, yeah - saw a magnificent buck cruise by me in the the early morning gloom, as well as lots of does.

While fishing out there recently I saw a 200+ lb. jet black boar rooting along the lake shore. It looks just like the boar I saw last year, same time of year and same exact spot. They know when and where to go to feed year after year.
