A heck of a lot of walking w/ a bow. The rain and wind made it nice and easy though. It was a great time to be out there, but it would've been better if there was any new sign, or better yet, hogs.

BDB met up w/ me @ 3:00PM and we explored some new areas. I'm pretty sure we'll be hunting together in the future. It's nice when you get to met up w/ other JHOers.

Thanks for the after hunt refreshments BDB

We also met up w/ some guys from Utah that came to hunt. His buddy from CA told him that there aren't any bowhunters in California. He was talking to BDB, another JHOer (can't remember his name because I was so tired and it was raining & dark when we met) and me about their boat hunt. The said there were hunters all over. They had opportunities, but didn't close the deal.

Being out there was still better than working all day in the office. I'm already looking forward to Oct. The piggies will be a little bigger by then anyways.

I think I need to buy another boat or we should get yours fixed. That would be a nice way to increase our hunting opportunities there......and carry out our hogs downhill instead of uphill from the abyss. There were a couple of times yesterday when I was happy that I've been rockclimbing before. One wrong move and it's a looooonnnnnngggg way down.

It was nice meeting you YoungBlood (and seeing you again BDB). After hiking hills for 7 hours in the rain, who was tired?

Some one had some action there though. After tooling around by the lake for a while, I hiked back uphill but went cross-country instead of on the main trail. About 1/2 the way up, I ran into a small gut pile along a stream. Very few bugs and it looked intact - it hadn't been there that long. It (the gut pile) was wet and glossy but it had been raining the night before and all day. I haven't watched enough CSI to figure out time of death... (if it was a JHO'er that scored - please speak up!)

End of season stats -

Trips to Lake Sonoma - 4 (all in the month of March)
Trips where hogs were sighted (on public land) - 1
Trips where arrows were loosed - 1
Hogs taken - 0

See you there next October.
