Awright, Hatchet... let's hear it.

And that doesn't look like the .325 (maybe it's just the angle)... what'd you use?

dudes,had to rest my old 40 year old body after the hell recovery on this big guy,
thank god my quad has a wench and i carry a 100ft of rope, i needed ever bit of it!
had a man pass from the wife yesterday,after taking care of the kids all week while
the wife was on buisness.it was time to GET OUT! left the house at 3am,arrived at 6am.
have a piece of property i hunt out of san luis, had not been up since the rain.
i put the wolfpack on and started my accent,as i topped out on the first ridge i see
a cow,wait there are no cows on this ranch!i guess him to be at about 400 yds,
i drop the pack and start my stalk,i get to about 125yds and figure its go time,
the bi pod deploys,i chamber a round in old faithful [mdl 70 featherwieght .270}
as he chewed his last acorn, i sent 130grains of sierra LEAD on its way,at the report
of the rifle, the trophy bolted, he sucked up that .270 like a pellet gun, i knew the
hit was good, he ran all the way down the nastiest canyon on the ranch{go fiqure}
i heard him crash in the bottom, i know what i need to do as i have dealt with them
before in this place i call hells canyon, i back track back to the rig and unload the quad,
i make it as far as i can on the artic cat and hof it from there, i find old blondie where
i last heard him, drag him down to a spot to where i can hook him up to the wench
and the rest is history, this dude was double lunged and went a good 200 yds,
amazing critters, i took my field photos using the timer on my cannon sure shot,
guted him out on top the hill, and left the condors a little dessert,{hunted the ranch
for 20 years and never seen one}but there is always hope
<

anyways, i,ll quote what a fellow jho,er told me this morning in an e-mail,
" i prefer blondes"

Great tale, Hatchet... and one HECK of a nice hog!

I don't go in much for trophies, but I'd be tickled pink to shoot one as nice as that!

speck, i was also hunting cats and dogs on this place so i figured the .270 was
my best all around, i did however,miss not having my .325 with me on this
hunt as i am sure i would have anchored him right were he stood and saved my
aching back that i have this A.M.
