I was at the "Cove" yesterday. This piece of land is heavily wooded, surrounds a Lake Cove, and has massive hogs. While stalking through the woods I got a sounder up. They stood there and I could see a large hog through the brush. I did not have a great shot through the thick growth and about 35-50 feet, but I knew I could hit it. I shot and it went down, screaming. Then it got up and ran off. I could tell it was big. I found the blood trail and you can see what happens in the video.

We're trying to eradicate hogs in Texas, so it is not "sad" or "iffy" and if you don't think that is a "mortal" shot you don't know what you are talking about.

It takes a lot of time and effort to make these videos. Maybe they might help someone, maybe not. But why would I keep posting with comments like yours? Did you not even think with all that effort I put in following that blood trail- I wanted to find the hog? How about "hey canam, nice video=thanks for posting"

Canam, I was thinking that that pig bleed out about halfway through the video with all that blood. Definitely a dead pig, and those other pigs are eating well on it. Way to ensure the species proliferates :bounce-aqua: . Love the videos, keep them coming buddy!

I am sure you know from experience, as I do; some of these pigs just do not want to give up the ghost, and die, no matter how many holes you put in them, or slices you make on them. Years ago I got one with a fatal shot that paralyzed the boar from the neck down, I walked up to it and slit it throat (no worries boys, this was legal in this location). To make a long story short, after some time went by with slitting the other side of the throat, I ended up putting the knife through one ear and out the other to dispatch it (I was out of ammo, as I never expected to shoot multiple pigs).

Canam in california we do not have hogs running all over that need to be erraticated, we use to in San diego, but thier erratication process was very good and quick and now, no more pigs to hunt, well maybevery few.
As for the ify shot you your self said "They stood there and I could see a large hog through the brush. I did not have a great shot through the thick growth" So thank you for the video, yes I am sure it is dead somewhere providing a meal for something,

Omg- wtf, he lived in cali and moved out to Texas so he knows what the pig game in cali is all about....

Oh my the poor piggies, they r considered invasive every where else in the country butt Cali where they treat it as a game animal for revenue with all kinds of rules and regulations and then they charge an arm an a leg for a pig tags including the extra taxes for sports equipment and supplies.
Sht in a few more years in cali outfitters will want a 1000. For 1 non guaranteed pig kill 2 day hunt.

In other states I am sure their r people that will pay u to get rid of thier destructive hogs instead of u paying them.
Oh well good luck on your cali pig hunt opah I can't wait to here that story......

Cam keep on whacking them suckers anyway legal u can bro and share your vids, really enjoy them whish I could b in your shoes....tra

TRA, the Jack Ranch is already charging $800.00. But then, if you can shoot, the Jack is as close to guaranteed as one can get.

TRA, with those piggly wiggly pictures you were first posting after your move, I figured you would be in Canam's shoes by now, what the hell happened dude?

I might get the boot, but hell, this spring I just might show-up on Canam's doorstep. But hell, I'll have to get an AR first, as having my cannon projectile landing on the neighbors breakfast plate, just won't be acceptable.

And I've explianed my freind many times my situation taking care of my wife full time makes it hard for me to just get up and go like I was able too in cali when my wife was better, so I am sure I will have the chance when the conditions r right for my situation, until then Pig hunting is on hold till further notice.
I have been seriously looking into some wma land this year that's about 90 min. From me, I HELLA MISS BEING ON THE HUNT DON'T MAKE CRY....LOL..

Thnx for the info!....tra

P s. More than likely since it was a big hog the blood must of quagulated around the entry hole with all that thick hair it seals up enough to where u loose the blood trail eventually, I am suprized u don't use a dog to track unless u don't want to deal with that Nasty brush or get your dog tore up.
But your just trying to eradicate them anyways and u have plenty of pork I am sure, so might as well let the coyotes enjoy the pork, plenty more where that came from.........lol....tra

I have no problem with Texans killing hogs because they are a nuisances, kill the shit out em. Just post the vids so they could never be assumed to be from a guy that was a hunter/gatherer that practiced clean kills and cared for the delicious meat.
Maybe your above quote might aught a be embedded in all your hog eradication videos.

Oh come on this notion that there exists some perfect hunter that can insure that every kill is a perfectly placed shot that drops every animal DRT is fantasy. It's a hunting vid that is disclaimer enough. Also the criticisms here are pretty tame, and likely to be found anywhere. Just roll with them. Take em into consideration or ignore them. Speaking of which I still think you should give a try to filming without the case over the camera. It muffles the ambient sounds you want to hear and amplifies the contact sounds you don't.
