Well my comment about the 223/556 was in regard to many hogs being terminated with a pistol shot to the head because the initial shot was with too small a bullet. If it’s not evident, I don’t know what to tell y’all.

This thread was posted in the "Hog and Javalina Hunting" forum. A new hunter, a kid or a person that is on the fence about hunting would watch the video and read the comments and come away thinking that's how hunters hunt and they are all ok with it. Do you want a new hunter thinking it's ok to take iffy shots through thick cover?
I believe in practicing clean kill shots and caring for the harvested meat to be enjoyed at the dinner table. I don't expect everyone to have my same values but i believe they can be shared with others to ponder.
In Canams defense, there's no place in the forum to post about Texas hog eradication. The closest thing i can think of the is the varmint hunting thread. Maybe we should ask for a new forum title entitled "Texas pig eradication (warning any method of take allowed)".

I stopped watching the videos a long time ago because of the pistol shots.

The last thing I want to do is have a thread degenerate into insults and accusations. I am usually very careful when I shoot a hog. I have only had one run and not find it. That was this video. I knew it was not an ideal shot but not everything is ideal. All the other hogs I have shot have dropped where I shot them. I am just so close and get to the hog in 10 seconds or less, you are seeing in the videos how a hog dies. I don't want any animal to suffer so I use the pistol even if they are not "moving". You can shoot them with a bigger rifle from further away with much worse results. I am on another forum for hog hunters, yes hunters, and will stay over there. PM if you want. Good luck guys....I'm out......PS- bubble your PM box is full, needs to be emptied.

Hunting = one size fits all, WOW.

I shot an elk in the heart a while back. Almost nothing left of the heart. The elk still went about 300 yards before dropping. Since it was thick timber, it took a bit of tracking, slow tracking. By the time I got to it, the elk was still kicking. That, without a doubt, was an ethical kill (at least to me it was). Geez, some people just want everything to fit into the delusional box they have created. Yeah, all creatures are fuzzy, kind and loving, we should hug them, not eat them.

Now I know why my question was never answered regarding what Canam does with all the meat.
There’s nothing wrong with eradicating invasive pests, but animals should be humanely killed when hunted or eradicated.

dt, I don't keep the meat. But what I do is I have a guy from a small, very poor town that I call. I bring the hogs to an area he can pick them up from. He will take the meat or sell it to https://wildboarmeats.com/
I can't get all the hogs to him but the majority I do. I just did not want to act like I am some kind of hero is why I did not respond.

now u want to segregat him into another category...
Man the hog forum was almost practical dead before cam started posting. we lost so many other cool successful pig hunter members due to ridicule and other bs over the years and now u want to push him away, that's great.....
Cam don't waste your time trying to justify yourself or answer back to those comnents, Just keep on posting your great vids and pics and if Jesse and the moderators have any issues with your post they would let u know.
I start posting my bass post in the hog forum if it ever gets boring again.....lol......tra

Sounds like a noble cause.

An apology would do wonders?

For what reason would I apologize? Hunters are typically eager to talk about what they do with the meat from their harvest. You didn’t respond to my question because you don’t use the meat; you’re exterminating a pest. You give some away, and let some rot. Now I know why you didn’t respond. Pretty simple. As I said before, there’s nothing wrong with exterminating a nonnative invasive species (if legal), so don’t be offended. I do think you’re missing out on some great table fare, though.

As a side-note, if you’re going to post a video where you tell folks that you didn’t have a great shot, and the outcome is you didn’t recover the animal, you should expect some critical comments.

Are you the guy that can't afford food? I would think you would be grateful for what I do.....

Seems like you're overly offended over some matter-of-fact conversation. Either embrace what you do, or rethink it.

Unfortunately, this type of crap is common on boards in which the moderators fail to moderate.

Many years ago I rushed a shot on a moving deer and hit him in the guts, a lucky second shot put the deer down. It felt bad because I messed up the shot and could have easily lost the deer. Bad shots happen but I don't think taking bad shots should be normalized or expected by hunters. It's just not right, it's bad for our image and it sends the wrong message to new or potentially new hunters as well as none hunters that vote. I'll probably get flak for this to but I cringe a little every time I hear that bad shots should be expected or they just happen when bow hunting. Again, they can happen but it should not be normalized, they call it a bad shot for a reason, because it's bad.
Here's a general question for duck hunters...Do sky blasters know they are sky blasting, will someone stand up and say I shoot at ducks all the time when they are 80yds out?
