The dog did have maggots and it looked as if it was eaten from the inside out, not much was left. It was under a thick canopy so the buzzards would have hard time getting to it and back out. I have seen hog dogs running down the highway (2-lane road) with their gear on...

Some working dogs have a tough life. Hell, maybe he got hit by a car and crawled in there to a safe spot to die?

It is awlfull small, two foot at most 3 foot long, probably 14 / 18 inches tall.
I didn't kow they used that small a dog to catch hogs ?
But then again I am no expert in Hog dogs.
