Learn stream trout fishing basics at in-depth Bass Pro Shops seminar

Stream fishing and the use of natural baits for trout is a dying art. I learned how to fish for stream trout on the headwaters of the Santa Ana River when I could count the years I’d been alive on the fingers of my two hands -- and still have a few digits left over. I’ve been fishing the streams of Southern California, the Sierra, and the entire West ever since using those same tactics and baits my father showed me 50 years ago.

The fishing techniques, baits, and approaches are completely different from what it takes to catch trout in lakes and ponds, and wild fish are completely different animal than a hatchery trout. Working with Bass Pro Shops and Eagle Claw, I’ve set up a series of stream fishing seminars this summer to share this knowledge.

The first of these seminars will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga. The class is $20, and you’ll get about $20 worth of free stream fishing tackle at the event. There will also be classes from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 1, and on July 20, July 24, July 31, and August 3.

A complete schedule and registration form is available on his web site at Outdoor News Service, or you can call my office at 909-887-3444 if you have questions.
