already known about it though. It is called the Depth of field preview button. I just read about it. It is the little button below the lens release button
What happens is when you look through the lens, what you see is always a large aperature, but if you are shooting a landscape at f/8, f/16 or smaller, you actually do not get to see your DOF through the lens.. but you can press the depth of field preview button, and the camera will apply your designated field of view to the lens and you can actually preview your DOF and see what is in focus and what isnt.
maybe I am the only one that this is news to, but it is pretty cool, and thouht if others didnt know about it, it would be a good tip to remember.. I found a good article on NPN about it too..
