Well I am leaving in two days for CO for elk and deer. I have packed and repacked multiple times and the next couple of days of work are going to just about drive me crazy. I was wondering if anyone had any info on what the weather is doing in the area and how the hunting has been. We will be hunting between 9500 and 11000 ft. The weather sites on the net seem to contradict each other half the times. Man it is going to be a slow couple of days of waiting. Don't these people at work know I am dreaming of hunting right now and don't have time for work.

Its been really warm here lately but its supposed to be down to the low 70's by Friday. Which is still too warm for me. You should be a little cooler with the increase in elevation

I am leaving SW Colorado elk hunting Thursday after work. According to weather.com, no storms are predicted as far as the forcast goes (mid next week). Oh well, at least it will be plesant camping weather.

Hunting was a little disappointing because of the weather. Highs in the valleys of mid to upper 80's the whole time and not that much cooler on top. Nine hunters in camp only took 3 bucks and one small bull. We had a good time except for the lack of animal movement. I took al 4x4 buck about 20 inches. I should have some pics to post soon. Guides worked hard just wasn't anything they could do about the heat.

The weather has been hot and dry for the first 2 seasons here in Colorado. The game is not moveing. The forcast calls for cooler temps and snow for this weekend. Lets hope for snow.

I just got back today from my second season hunt. We experienced the same, extremely hot weather. We do everything on our own, out of six, we got two decent 5x5's, and one 5x5 25" deer. We didn't see near the elk we did last season, and we were hunting high, there was plenty of water, the weather was just way too hot for an animal that size to be walking around much in.
