Scenario
You got an X zone tag and an adjacent D zone tag. You are parked at the trailhead in the X zone but you are hunting the crestline. You venture into the D zone ( you have a tag for it ) and you kill a buck there. You tag it with your D zone tag but now you have to carry it back into the X zone.
You get checked by a Game Warden, or God forbid, by the US Forest Service.
Are you now busted for a crime you did not commit ?

If what you say is exactly what happends, then NO.

It is on the warden to prove that you took that animal on the X zone and not the D zone. But, you can be assured that the warden will probably question you heavily to ensure you did not take the animal in the X zone.

Be prepared to show that warden the site of the kill. And there better not be any foot prints or drag marks leading from the wrong side to the right side and your supposed kill location.
