Thought I would try and get this Board back on track. Has anyone had any luck hunting Public land lately? How have your hunts gone and what are you seeing as far as movement of game. Has the wet winter made it more difficult for you to locate the game? Is everyone waiting on Deer season? I know I am. Brian

Finally a topic worth talking about.....LOL. I'm gearing up for Deer season. The only public places that I ever hunt for pig are pretty far from me, and I've never had any luck. Maybe next year....

Well I'm hoping to go to Camp Roberts after my sons football season ends for highschool. Maybe November and December. I have'nt heard much this year but the deer hunts sounded like an improvement over the last 2 years and hopefully the pig numbers are up.

I had some luck at a public place by the coast. DFG added a water hole and when it got hot, pigs would cross from a nearby barley field to get some water.

I was up at Laguna Mountain, scouting before A zone archery season started and saw LOTS of sign and at least 2 dozen hogs in 2 different groups. Of the 2 dozen, around 6 were boars.... around 150-200#

Havent been up there since, but, once rifle season calms down a little, and the rain starts again, I know of a couple of creeks up there that are gonna be crawlin....

Only problem is that I am a little bit 'over my maximum density' and I just know that the hike over the top and down to the creeks is liable to kill me...

Hmm the diet and exercise sounds better and better....

Saw tons of sign and a fresh wallow in the hillss by Coalinga. Lots of life up that way, but it receives a lot of pressure. We almost hit a 200plus-pound sow standing in the middle of the road ont he way in. Other than that, pig hunting on public is tough.
