I just one a Leupold RX-IV digital range finder and I was wondering if anybody else had used one yet and what there thoughts were on it. Is it hard to use? I will be using it mainly at ranges of 20-300 yards in the area I hunt.

I bought an RX-IV a few months ago because I was hoping to do some precision long range shooting. It is rated to work out to 1500yds on reflective objects...so I figured it should work out to 1000 on non-reflective targets, but mine won't range anything beyond 650yds. When I'm out hunting, it will range out to about 500 on boulders, but no further at all. In my opinion, it's a piece of garbage that should be discontinued. I could have paid half the price for a Bushnell that works just as effectively.

I've heard the Leica works well, but I don't know if it works as well as it is rated by the company.

I have a Leica CRF 1200 rangefinder and it does more than advertised. In good light I have ranged to about 1500 yards. In poor light I can range to 900/1000 yards with little trouble. The glass is really good as well. The level of detail I can see through the glass is only limited by the light weight of the rangefinder. Except for the inability to hold such a light object still a person could use them as a spotting monocular. They're well worth the price.

I have the RX- 2 or 3 it works fine, nice to walk around guessing at distance and seeing how wrong your guess is. seems to work fine, but the Leica is much better.

I have the RXIII and they seem to work fine for objects up to about 700yds. Lecia and the swar are much better and way more expensive.
