I need help in choosing and want to know if anyone can help by telling me if one is better than the other or will I be fine with either, and it just come down to personal preference. Just hunting georgia whitetails and once a year will be hunting out west for a mule deer or elk. Thanks

I don't know anything about the nikons, but I have a pair of wind river porro prisem 9x35 from the early 1990s which I absolutely love. I had to send themback 2 years ago because of double vision. Leupolds customer service is awsome, not only did they correct the problem they replaced the neck strap, eye cups, and all ID plates with new ones. They made them look and work as good as new. No charge, and only 2 weeks from the time I sent them off to the time I got them back.

I have a pair of each. The Nikons are the older 10x40 Monarchs and the Leupolds are the older Wind Rivers that are individual focus. The Leupolds win hands down IMHO. Way clearer and better in low light. The Nikons have been sitting since I bought the Leupolds. I'd make somebody a decent deal on them if they were interested.

Ditto on what Richard said about Leupold's customer service. I bought a trashed Vari X scope and sent it back to them with a note to bill me for the repair. I had it back 2 weeks later, good as new and they didn't charge me a dime.

Agreed on Leuopold's customer service...when I decided to buy a new pair of binocs last year, I tried the Wind River, Burris, Nikon's, and a couple of others. I bought the Nikon Monarch 8x42's. They seemed to be the best all-around. I love 'em.

I can't speak to the Nikons, but I have a pair of 10X42 Leopold Wind River Cascades. They have a long eye relief which permits me to use them wearing my glasses. I use them pretty extensively when out in the field and I like them very much.

Thank you . It sounds like I will go with the leupolds. I have never had any problems with any other leupold products. It's just cheaper and easier to ask and get good opinions to make the right dicision. Once again you have came through . Thank you again. Hunt hard, hunt soft, and shoot straight.
