I know 2 goofballs who were 10 yards from a pig and one of them wasn't aware of the hog and the other guy was tossing dirt over at him to get him to look his way to see the hog. They got the hog too.

The 2 goofballs plan resulted in a dead pig. The non-goofballs' 300+ yard shots sent the goofballs down a hell hole only to find nada.....no blood. It was nothing for this goofball but the newby goofball was tumbling a few times trying to get down to the bottom of the hell hole. Hope the newby goofball doesn't shy away from hunting due to this experience.

JMS, how about 10 feet...... its doable. just be patient...

Super slow stalk like the two goofballs and you might be able to grab the pig by the tail.

Well I was one that didn't get a hog this time. That was because I was picky and not shoot smaller pigs. I was also more interested in assisting the new guys and helping them to get one. Apparently the canyon we worked on for two days was not so friendly and the pigs have the advantage over the hunters. I watch a huge boar moved along the steepest hillside about half a mile away for about 2 hours. The boar finally disappeared into the only patch of 4-5 trees in a small ravine. I sat and watched for another hour and he didn't come out. I figured he would be snoring in those patch of trees. It took me about 2 hours to make my way down to the bottom of the canyon, up halfway on the other side, and sidehill to the ravine. When I got to the patch of trees, I found his rooting, shits, and fresh bed. But he was nowhere to be found. I couldn't believe he would get up between 10am-11am and moved off his bed through steep open hillsides to somewhere else. Oh well, I guess is was not his day to take a bullet, and it was my turn to come home empty handed from Tejon for the first time. I know where he hangs out now, so there will always be next time. Maybe he will grow bigger next year.

Yeah, this new goofball rolled around the hills quite a bit, but had lots of fun and learned a ton about pig hunting. Hope to see you all around FHL this upcoming season and Tejon next year.
