Blood is already flowing from the hunt this weekend! SacfireJT put a broadhead through his thumb right before departure and had to make an emergency trip to the ER
<
!

Reportedly AS is in the Bay Area today
<
, Sacfire is reporting the AS is calling every 15 minutes like a giddy school girl, trying to get the latest word!

As we speak Sacfire is 5 mintues from the gate!

Goodluck guys!

We would expect this level of blow-by-blow, minute-by-minute account of the actual hunt (lol).

Congratulations to LD for earning himself a swift punch to the kidney next time i see him for his snide comments.......yep, ole SacfireJT spent a little time in the ER before his trip to chop's, self inflicted wound of course!

Anyway, back to the action......there might have been blood drawn this afternoon, a shot was taken and it sounded like a solid hit, but there was no blood or arrow found. They're getting back on the trail first thing in the morning. SacfireJT saw 4 hogs this afternoon and watched one traditional archer put a great sneak on a 200lb boar only to get busted at 15 yards....the same archer who potentionally shot the hog they'll be looking for tomorrow.

Thigh stabbing & thumb slicing, this is what bowhunting is all about!

That, or some folks need some remedial "don't run with sharps" training.

OK, one evening and one morning hunt in and no reports other than self inflicted (nice crack by the way BC
<
) broadhead wounds. What's up with that!!!! Hopefully the guys are too busy tracking, gutting, dragging and skinning to be calling in reports.

Franklin,
I knew there were reasons I like you.
You are able to appreicate aspects of the hunt such as good food, majestic scenery and good fireside brotherhood.

Be that as it may,....... I want blood and pics!!!!!

Thanks Gyopo it's always nice to be recognized.
I remember how much you like blood and guts. Didn't you throw yourself down a ravine with a hog tied to your back?
Oh no wait a minute that was a monster Killer Cottentail......!
No on second thought it was a hog and you had to eat a whole ham to gain the strenght to climb out.
Then later that night you saved us all from the attack of the Giant Killer Cottentail, then stuffed us full of your wifes short ribs!
We really shpould do that again!

Hey All, well Im the trad archer, Its Sunday 2:00 pm and im home.
Well here goes a blow by blow, But first I need to give a big thanks to Rich and all the guys for letting me join this hunt. A dobble thanks goes to SacfireJT this guy Took me to his best spot and gave me the first stalk I hope i can return the faver some time.

Any way here we go, Sacfire and i are not on the ground for more than 5 min when we spot 3 good size sows on the hill side, well he spotted 2 I spotted 1, we moved not knowing which hogs we were on and we got busted. Not thirty seconds later, heart still pounding out of my chest, Sac goes, theres a boar. He points it out and tells me to take it, Thanks again, I start to stalk up the hill with the boar ( about a 200 lb er ) at about 40 yards. The ground sounds like some one dropped 2 tons potato chips right under my feet. I get to within 30 yards and the Boar pops into the open at a stedy walk, not to fast but still walking, i hold still and he walks behind some cover, now hes feeding along and i take another 15 yards off the distance. Hes behind some brush and i cant see him or hear him and then i make the mistake. Instead of sitting still and waiting for him to make a move, I move to try to see him not knowing he is stairing at me through the brush. Needless to say all i heard was grunt and foot steps. Wow 5 min and i already have enough adrinlen to run 4 people.

We continue down the road, eyes pealed, we get to a tree stand, Sac climbs in and I continue down the road. A while later im thinking im going to lose light in a bout a 1/2 hour i better head back, as im walking back im keeping an eye on the hill side and the creek bed now on my left, I notice some movement in the brush beside the creek. I look down and see a snout poke out of the brush and start drinking water. When it finshes its drink it starts to move back through the vines ( dont know what thay are but they are long and have thorns like roses ) I follow the moving vines with my eyes I can see glimses of back, ears and, well butt. Then it comes to a small clearing its head is behind a tree, i can see the back of its frount shoulder, its back and its butt, (later rangefinder tells us 14 yards ) I draw, ancher and release. The release felt good, the arrow looks good in flight but i lose sight of it about 3/4s the way to the pig. I hear the impact its a hit, then what looks like the 9:30 freight train to hell is busting through the vines i watch untill i cant see any more movment. About that time I hear Sac, little did i know i was about 20 yards from the tree stand, we look for sign untill its to dark to see and then by flash light. Could not find anything.

The next morning Sac and I hunt untill there is good light and start to look again, right off the bat I find the arrow. Its broke off about 8" behind the broadhead, It has a little bit of blood at the break but no blood to be found anywhere else. Chopper comes in with the dog to no avail. The hog is lost, needless to say im bumbed this is only the 2nd animal ive lost in a little over 28 years of hunting. Still jazed though from all the excitement from the evening before.

Stay tuned Saterday evening was a blast to.

Well made it back home and I thought I would post-up a few pictures...Pops pretty much summed up my action for the trip because the only hogs I saw were with him. I am sure I walked past many hogs that were beded, but that's hunting. There is a lot of water and feed--green veg, so the pigs are spread out. But even though I did not let an arrow fly, it was a GREAT trip, as it always is, at Chooper's! We had lots of outstanding food and drink--thanks again RichW! I met a few new people on the trip and they were all great guys!

Here are a few pictures.

A Bat that was "hangin-out" in the cabin. Luckly LD was not on this trip because he is just a little sacred of bat's...well, wildlife in general.

As has been said everyone hunted there arses off and it was fairly warm so the weekend was a work out.We tried several spots on the ranch that I KNOW was holding hogs but getting to them was another story. There is water every where and a ton of food for them right now so there is not much need for them to move around a whole lot.All and all a great trip with great people and great food! Thanks Rich and Oroso!
<
So to sum it up in my own words,We hunted hard, ate to much, stayed up to late and drank to much...........AHH! I cant wait for my next Wild hog adventure!
