I killed a pig this last weekend. Shot it through the lungs after it got up from its bed. I had shot and lost this same pig 11 days earlier, in the same bed. That shot went in the back and ran up along the spine. I recovered the broadhead and 8" of shaft. It was stinky and nasty looking around the old wound. The body cavity wasn't touched with that first shot. I took the hams, heart, and liver. I haven't eaten any yet and am now wondering if I should. The meat looks and smells good and I took great care in keeping the knife and cuts clean. I wonder if I can get sepsis or some other nasty illness from its being wounded for 11 days?
What do you guys know about this? Any advice appreciated.
I killed this guy last Friday below Liberty Glen. Sunday morning there were pigs feeding about 75 yards from the camp host. They didn't afford us a shot, disappearing like pigs do.
