I'm wondering if anyone can pass along any recommendations of a utah late season cow elk hunt? Been wanting to go on one for years but still haven't. Thanks for any help.
New neighbor told me he just moved back to Cali as while living in Utah he never got a tag. Now he is back to south Utah for this years hunt first try got a tag. Last 4 years in Utah he could not win a tag. Maybe South Utah has a few OTC?
I don't understand? Why a depredation hunt? Why not just put in for the anterless draw? The odds are 100% that you will draw. The depredation hunts are lot harder to receive than the draw.

Here are some of my guess why he wants a depredation tag. 1. Too late for the draw. he post one day after the deadline. 2. he is avoiding the crowd, usually they let you hunt the property where you buy your tag. 3. a little bit harder to draw the southern part of the state. every other year, on my experience.
The CWMU operators are forced to give out public access in the draw in exchange for permits they can sell or use. All their phone numbers are in the regulations. Just call and see what they say. You are likely talking more money than the draw tags... But shouldn't be too bad for a cow...
There are some good hunts you can get with no points, but too late for the regular draw now. I bet there will be antlerless leftovers, but you will hgave to drive further.
Start checking KSL.com (the Craigs List of Utah) around October. Land owners with left over permits start listing hunts then. $500-$600 range for antlerless in the later seasons (Nov-Jan).
